No sir. I have played this game with Dyson enough that I know how it works. Call again and just keep repeating that it's unacceptable, and if they don't have "refurbished" stock to send you then they are obligated to send you a new one to honor the warranty.

the canister on my v15 cracked and they played the "out of stock" game for a couple weeks. I finally said this is outrageous, I have a warranty and if you can't send a canister then you better send a brand new vacuum. And they did.
Oh good my time to shine. Ours just died, won't turn on, went through the atrocious customer service Dyson supplies, and they can't honor the warranty because they "have no replacement stock.". They will notify me when they get stock to replace my paperweight.

Trash company with trashy products. Go buy the shark one.

Everyone saying they're too expensive, yes they are if they break like this. It does blow harder and hotter than any other normal one I've used in my life though.

But seriously fark Dyson.

Quick edit, the part of their email that has me wondering how long before I should contact my state AG:

"Upon checking we see that for exchange machine is out of stock with no estimate on when it will be restocked. Our team is working diligently to secure new stock. We truly apologize for the delay. However, we have notified your account so that you will receive an email as soon as new stock is secured.

We request you to contact us when you receive the notification so that we can replace the item and resolve the issue. "
You are better off buying from Walmart and paying for the 3 or 4 year warranty.

If you receive a unit that is not like new, Walmarts easy return policy is your friend.

The Walmart warranty pays you with a Walmart gift card, so they are very lenient on claims. YMMV. Do not buy the product and the warranty at the same time. Buy the warranty after you verified condition.

Steps, buy the product first from Walmart. If it is in perfect condition keep it and buy the extended warranty.

(I bought a Deal from this seller. The unit smelled like it was used for dog grooming. The seller fights returns hard. I had to file an item not as described case, which was decided in 15 seconds in my favor. Ebay is well aware this seller's prior bad acts. ie Selling grade C items as grade A. The grade is posted on the side of the box. Yes you can get a unit in perfect condition, returned for buyers remorse)

If you buy from Walmart or this seller, the box will be shipped by Dyson.

wondering if anyone can chime in on an issue I'm having with this hair dryer.

We bought one about 2 or 3 years ago. Recently, it does this thing where it shuts off on its own randomly. The 3 red lights (for temperuature) blinks repeatedly until I turn the dryer off. Then the cycle repeats with random lengths of time before shutting off.

I cleaned the filters, as well as anywhere that could gather dust. I'm thinking it's an overheating issue. Unfortunately, it's a refurb so definitely outside the warranty period.

Anyone have any suggestions on what is going on? I have bought refurb dyson and never really had issues. This on the other hand is a different story.

Any input will be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Did you try brushing the filter on the handle with a dry toothbrush and/or then blow with compressed air. My sister had the same issue and was able to bring it back to life with that trick. Not sure if it was residue from a hair product that clogged the filter.

Yes, the key is to get a Grade A item in perfect condition. Then buy the Walmart warranty. If the item breaks at 10 months, wait a couple of months and then file a claim on the Walmart warranty.

If you carefully read the ad, the Seller is just broker like Walmart. His business is dysonstore (99551)

OP has posted the link if you want to buy directly from Dyson

Once again, many have gotten a deal they were happy with from this Seller. However, it is also possible to get a lower grade item that you will have to fight hard to return.

Check the sellers negative feedback, it's comical
Waiting for mine to arrive. Do you have to contact customer service to add on the warranty or are you able to do it yourself in your account somewhere?

is it better to buy from walmart or dyson direct on whats still available? Any chance you find these at the same price in your local walmart so you can quickly examine and bring back if defective?

My wife was gifted one. As far as I can tell, it has a heating element and a fan that blows that heat out the end of it... Exactly like the others do.
My wife made me buy her one. It's a joke. We already had a "professional" dryer that delivered similar heat and power, and was barely louder. More importantly, this thing is a user design nightmare. It's a 2-handed operation. Your hand blocks the air intake. You have to toggle through clicking a button multiple times to change speed or heat levels, and the buttons aren't even on the handle. The air intake screen is cheap plastic and comes off constantly, and Dyson charges $60 to replace it. If you have super long, straight hair, then there's a unique attachment that you may find worth it, otherwise avoid. There are reliable pro dryers that sell for $80 and are much better designed. This product is a giant con job.

I got a shark hair dryer on here for my daughter she loves it. I would never pay $200 for a hair dryer but I'm sure it works great.

I bought this for my gf in 2018. It's still going strong.

There is two way to dry things.

1. Air flow
2. Heat

Air fryer is nothing but an electrical oven with super fast fan… and it can make fries really crispy.. so air flow matters

Turbo engine is car with more intake airflow also.

With traditional hair dryer… the air flow design was same.. so if you compare cheap one to expensive one.. they all advertise the heat power ..

800w, 1000w, 1750w, 2000w….

But the heat can damage your hair…

So women either put up with slower drying or risk damaging for faster drying..

When I compare Dyson with other traditional hair dryer..

It moves more air with the different motor and fan design… so it do not need to use more heat.. because air flow is better.

Also the temperature sensor on Dyson will make sure it does not over heat.

If you are person with short hair… you don't need it…

But if you have a long hair….. especially long curly hair… yes this is worth it.

Used dated a girl with super curly hair… she would dry for hours.

Traditional hair dryer: hair heater with fan

Dyson: more like snow blower with heat.

It's all in the air flow. The head of hair dryer also create entrainment. ( fast moving air in the middle pulls air around it to create more air)

You are buying this for airflow.

I've concluded that these sorts of items are the last bastion of dopamine for folks who have shopping addictions (e.g. everyone here) and who have everything else already. That's the only explanation I can come up with to explain spending this much money on a hair dryer.

The item is directly shipped from Dyson. It will be in a plain brown box. The item grade is on the side of the box. If you receive a B grade item or below, and you are happy with it great. Understand, that many will receive an A grade item in near perfect condition. Go to Walmart and read the reviews.

There are numerous data points of this item breaking within a year or shortly thereafter. As a Slickdealer, your goal is to get use of the item for the cost of the extended warranty plus the loss of use of your money for 1 year and one day.

If the item breaks within one year do not file a manufacture warranty claim. Put the item on the shelf, cross your fingers, and hope that it repairs itself (unlikely but possible) Check the item at the end of the manufacture's warranty, and if it has not repaired itself, file claim with Walmart.

You have 30 days to get the Walmart warranty. You can get it online or in Store with your receipt.

Ugh. Every time this thing is up on SD, someone comes in to hur dur the thread. I'll try to use as simple an analogy as possible for you to understand how something like this works and why it's expensive. Firstly, I'll assume you live on planet Earth where automobiles are a thing, correct? Ok, good. Now an automobile is ostensibly for getting you from point A to point B, just like a hairdryer (presumably to people like you) is to just get wet hair dry. Ok, so would you prefer a shitbox automobile that has 4 wheels and that's it? It'll get you there but the *ride* isn't as fast, or safe (healthy for your hair), or the experience is just lacking... MAYBE the options (attachments) are there to make for a smoother experience for the non-average user (curly hair anyone). Now imagine a bunch of gearheads standing around talking about their amazing cars and you show up, mouth agape, and start spouting about how your '92 Toyota Camry does the same thing their supercars do. You'd look just as dumb as you do now.

It's a free market. They can charge whatever they want. And you can chose to buy or not buy at all. No harm to you if you don't buy. If no one buys their product at that price, the company go bankrupt or will lower the price. It's as simple as that.

Well. depends on how the warranty term is written... I'm sure it is written the way that benefits them. But it's still worth a try at the end of the day. They are bothered enough, they will send people new one. I have no doubt they can afford to send new ones for warranty claims...

Bought this new for my wife and she loved it so much that we got one for our daughter. It really works well compare to other dryers. It's really just a super high speed motor with iron generator and some temperature regulation, nothing fancy though.

Right out of warranty our daughter's broke and I tried to fix it by taking it apart. The way that it is constructed makes it almost impossible to repair by an average consumer and the parts are mostly plastic and designed to fail soon after warranty. It's almost criminal how cheap the materials used to build the dryer and that's why a majority of them fail so soon.

So buy refurbish at your own risks and I don't think it's worth it at all. We tried many hairdryer for our daughter afterwards, and settled on the Shark. While the Shark has a filter that cannot be removed, but it is significantly cheaper. I haven't taken the Shark apart yet.
