Reolink poe video doorbell actually liked by ipcamtalk members .. there is even a long thread there on it.
I own the Wifi version of this, which also supports wired ethernet (just not being powered via PoE). If you have a doorbell hookup already, there's not really a reason to get the PoE version over the Wifi version (even if you want to use ethernet instead of Wifi).

It's a great camera; it even supports FTP/SFTP to my NAS in addition to storing everything on a microSD card. So on the very off chance that someone totally destroys the camera, I still have a copy of everything without needing to pay for cloud storage.

It also supports Alexa/Google Home as a chime (Nest Mini/Nest Hub/etc), and can stream the live camera footage to any Google Cast compatible screens (including any of those devices with screens themselves, like my Nest Hub).

Also a little tip -- Reolink charges extra for "Rich Previews" (I forget the naming), but it's for preview images inside of Motion Notifications (like thumbnails before you go into the app, in the notification previews themselves). You can get this feature for free by enabling email notifications and using the email address for service like Pushover/Pushbullet/etc. They're near-instant too.
I own this and recommend it. Free cloud features are pretty good and I had minimal false notifications when I was using the cloud. I have since blocked it from direct access to the internet to increase security, but I'm still able to connect directly to the camera from the app on my local network (or remotely from the app if I vpn into my home network).

I didn't realize this when I installed it. I saw the two terminals there, but then all it does is power up the doorbell, It would have been a great thing to do both.

Damnit! Who in hell has ethernet to their doorbell? I can't think of a more difficult wire fish than this … especially if you have properly foam insulated that notoriously leaky cavity.

Very true. I'm trying to figure a way to get this accomplished! Would have been great if it was done the correct way when it was being constructed.

I own both this and the wifi version (that I installed at my parents house). Overall, recommended.

My doorbell already had cat5e to it, the builders just used two of the pairs to connect to the transformer and then another cat5e to the chime. It was easy for me to just put on a new connector. I ended up removing the old transformer and put an outlet in place of it. I also removed the old chime and put another POE device there. FWIW, my house was built in 2003.

Performance-wise, it's quite good. I can get to the video quickly if someone pressed the doorbell, but the notifications can lag a smidge if someone just came/went (not a big deal). The positioning I have on my door means I don't get false positives unless a spider gets in the way at night - though that's been solved by just doing person detection.

The wifi version worked great at my parents - it also has ethernet, but no POE I think. It stays connected to the router when others would randomly drop. It's also 'boomer' approved once I installed the app on my parents phone etc, haha.

I don't know how common it is, but my button was using just 1 pair of cat3 wiring. Pop your button out and see if the installers happened to run more than just 2 wires to it. Happened to be the easiest network line I ran in the house.

Anyone has success adding the wifi doorbells to a Reolink NVR? Mine isn't recognized … even tried using ONVIF on port 9000

I have the same camera, it works great. The cable goes through the crawl space then drilled hole in a floor put it behind door trim, drilled hole to the outside and done. It is connected to Reolink app as well as to Laview NVR using INVIF on port 8000.

I saw some of you talking about running wires, just fyi they announced their roadmap where they'll have a 2k (4MP) resolution battery powered doorbell camera. Seems planned for very soon, Q2 2024.

Why can't anyone understand that we want a system that's in addition to the existing doorbell rather than replacing it? I think my doorbell is opposite the garage (and there's already a POE hub there) and if so I could run the ethernet that way (although I'm not sure where the existing wire goes to be sure not to cut it in drilling) but I want my existing chime to ring even if the fancy stuff fails for some reason.

They just announced a new version coming in the next month. It uses battery instead of wired. This is the reason for this sale which isn't much saving to be honest.

Reolink doorbell has a crappy experience on Android. When tapping a notification alert the video either stutters or doesn't load at all. But if you manually go to the recoding, it streams fine. This is a confirmed performance by their agent. Also, no quick way to jump to the timestamp of the detection. During the day it records 5 minute clips and will indicate that something was detected within the clip but it's up to you to find where in the clip the detection occurred. That experience makes the usage of it horrible.

There are white spots in the time line right below the video, the gray timeline, not the blue one. The gray time line is the clip time line. Tap to the white spot to jump and see what was detected.

The marketing bullet point on it sounds like it might do either. The point it will have over this is the taller POV, head to toe. Nice but not a big deal to me.

Yap, got it when they where taken orders for it, and came really quick. I can see that from all the video door bells this is one is Superior from all. Cat6 cable from my Blue iris tower to the door. Love it.
