The "1" on gw6900-1 indicates the color. 1 is the basic black color. Other colorways will have different identifier instead of the 1

This one is big. I scored one for $65 a month ago along with a GA700. It's not as big as the 700 but I'd say slightly bigger than an Apple Watch Ultra. I ran a very muddy Spartan with it and it survived the Spartan and the multiple cleanings that followed with no issues.

I've seen this w/ Kohls 40% off in the $60's and open box on Amazon for the same in the past year. Doesnt seem like a deal. Had this watch for a few days before but noticed that the alarm/beeping was way way quieter and the timer and/or stopwatch didnt simultaneously show the current time when using them like the non-solar 6900's do. Both cons in my opinion. Solar and atomic time both pro's and looks better than the non-solar 6900.

You can get a brand new first gen Garmin Instinct for like $100, id much rather have that especially for outdoors
I have the that watch (and the Garmin Instinct 2). It's a nice watch but a completely different animal. You need to plug it in and charge it. It's a smart watch that's made to be paired with your phone. It's not made to last either. It has a rechargeable battery that can't be replaced when it goes bad etc. It's only 100m water resistance. Not as shock proof etc. It's good at what is does but it's a different beast

If you see it in the $60s, you should post it on SlickDeals. It's currently over $100 at Kohls. No one has posted that price in three years. And yes, these type of g-shocks don't have loud alarms. (Probably a trade-off for their crazy shock resistance and water resistance.) Good point on having to switch between timers and current time. Some g-shocks do show both together, but usually sacrfice timer length and or percision to do so. I agree this solar version looks better than the old 6900

G-shock normally have small characters in relation to the size of the watch. That's because there is a lot of "cushioning" around the watch module for shock resistance and water resistance. This model is even more extreme because they give a lot of surface area to solar panels to make solar charging more efficient. That being said, people with good eyesight won't have problem reading the time. I haven't heard any complaints with this watch anyway.

But if you have bad eyes or don't like the way it looks, their are lots of other g-shocks out there. The best displays I've seen don't' have tough solar and atomic time sync though. For instance, I really like the gd350 display ...but the watch is heavy and you have to change the battery every couple of years and it doesn't sync time with the atomic clock

My daily watch is A159 (made in Japan) that I bought in Osaka last September. I was going to buy a 5610 ($150) but it was made in Thailand, so I passed. It looks like the 5610 is currently on sale for $98. I also have a two 5600 in black and one gray.

I love the A159. Great watch!

im using straps from the 5600 on my 6900 and they fit much better. the stock 6900 straps fit poorly due to the radius of the bend.

Man I've been looking for a good outdoor beater. I really like the smaller square ish g shocks.. is this one really huge
GW-M5000/5600/5610 series is going to be the smallest/lightest among the G-Shocks with solar.

For a beater, ebay has them from Japan often in very good to like new for around the same price as this deal.

Bigger usually means timex or protrek, but there's cheap and big

Not sure of the differences with this model, but I bought the GW-7900-1CR model on Amazon in 2022 for $50.67. It was my first gshock, and it's been a great watch!

Fantastic workhorse of a watch. I bought mine in 2017 and wear it almost daily, unless I'm wearing one my "nice" Gshocks. Submerged in water doing dishes or washing my vehicles, or from rotor hammering concrete and banging it around from daily work abuse this thing just keeps on going. Time automatically updates and I've never had to set a thing on it.

Its not my nicest g-shock by any means, but it's definitely my favorite and most reliable watch I own.
