Most of those signs are outdated.... Class I & 2 ebikes are allowed in most states and are considered non motorized vehicles.....don't be a snob, we need to coexist, they are all bicycles.

For me, 68years old, I was ghost peddling at 14 MPH. Since most bike now use standard parts I was able to put on a 52 tooth chain ring.. 14 MPH is my comfort speed I keep it in gear 5 now with no ghost peddling.

I'd like to get one of these as I live about 2 miles from my job, but where I live there's no sidewalks. There's even a bridge you can't cross without being in the road. You need a car to get around
You ride it in the road. In Ohio it's illegal to ride a bike on the sidewalk. That's pretty much the rule in the United States. Not sure your location but if Google the laws. You will find out in 20 seconds.

It's actually illegal to use bicycle, electric bicycles and adult electric scooters(that qualify as E-bikes' ) on pedestrian sidewalks. Socially, we make exceptions for young children on slow-moving <20 inch bikes as nobody wants a kid run over. But take a look next time and you'll never see a bicycle on a pedestrian sidewalk, there no room. The uneven nature of pedestrian sidewalk also make it quite dangerous to operate at bicycle speeds (10+mph).
Wrong. Here in MI I can go anywhere as long as I'm not being an ass.

I work about 5 miles from home, 2 days a week. I have to cross alot of intersections to get there. Wanting to get a bike for awhile but my wife told me that she would divorce me if I get a bike, lol. Afraid of me getting hit by cars.

I am in a similar situation. Would like the option but too many distracted drivers in trucks/suv's. Maybe a motorcycle would work.

What does ghost pedaling mean?

You're peddling "nothing". At high end of gears as you peddle it no longer feels like it's doing anything. It can also mean you can't go any faster. For a hike clamping 25-28mph the commenter is saying they couldn't get above 14 and no amount of faster peddling would surpass that speed. This singular comment restrained me from purchasing although that's probably not a reasonable pause.
