Thats a chicken nugget
I'm surprised boneless wings took so long to be invented. Those are the easiest chickens to catch.
I got them a few times, they are not to my liking, definitely not restaurant quality more like frozen food.

I'm not from where you are. The fact you are accepting something that is a complete lie proves how society is getting dumber.
It's a dumb name. That's been well established a million times....but it's still a piece of chicken with some breading on it, regardless of what it's called. It's not worth the effort to condemn something that you like to eat (if that's the case) because the name isn't to your liking. It's only a name. It really isn't worth stressing over!

I was given a Applebee's gift card for Christmas and decided to take a friend to one of the All-You-Can-Eat promotion which offered these boneless wings plus ribs, shrimp, and fries. I'm no food snob and have enjoyed other dishes at Applebee before but I have to agree with most, these boneless "wings" were absolutely terrible. They are such a departure from the normal Applebee's bone-in wings. Understandably they're not wings, more like nuggets. Even then, I found the McDonald's and Burger King nuggets to be superior. I had to apologize to my friend, who got a free meal out of it, for my poor choice in dining selection.

At what point do people say to no to lies? If there was no chicken it but pork meat - would you object to it being called chicken wings. I like chicken nuggets. I buy them knowing they are pretty close to the description. I guess my tolerance of bs is getting close to zero since I'm over 65 now and within living memory seen so much of what was good in society and people diminish to just about nothing.

I have to mention that boneless wings are usually whole muscle chicken breast, whereas nuggets are a ground up concoction of chicken parts. Boneless wings are supposed to be better quality in that regard, though much of it is bathed in brine to plump them up, coated excessively, and oftentimes, inconsistent in quality.

I have not had the boneless wings from Applebee's, and I know if I comment on their taste or quality the OP will come after me

If you're eating this stuff, you already know you're not going to expect some gourmet, artisan panko crumbed, organic, free-range, pasture-farmed chicken. Boneless wings are something served by sports bars and casual American dining chains exclusively, and you should expect it to be greasy, unhealthy, and loaded with enough sodium to turn a pig into bacon. Applebee's is going to be comparable to every other chain serving this stuff, it's just cheaper for this deal. So keep your expectations in line.

Personally I wouldn't eat them because the nutrition facts are unsatisfactory for me, but I wouldn't eat any boneless wings. It's a good price for dining out, deep-fried whole muscle chicken that you don't need to cook, and that should be the comparison point.

I get your point (minus the chicken wings made from pork silliness)....but I reiterate, it's just a stupid name. If you're going to stress about BS, I'm suggesting that you chose a better starting point than silly pieces of chicken. In this country and in 2024, there are far more important jumping off points!

I respected your opinion....until you made the comparison with McDonald's and Burger King chicken nuggets! At least these are 100% chicken, as opposed to fast food nuggets, that are a mashed-up concoction that's likely no more than 50-60% actual chicken. Insofar as taste is concerned, that's up to the individual....but no fast food chicken nuggets could honestly be considered "superior" to these! Especially insofar as product quality is concerned. Why would you apologize to your friend? Was everything bad that day (in your estimation)? I'm asking this only because you had singled out the wings (during the AYCE promotion).

I seriously doubt the Applebee's are 100% chicken. In fact they taste less chicken like than the fast food ones. I singled out these wings for the AYCE promotion because that is the worst item from the promotion & the subject of this thread. The ribs & shrimp were better but they are not good when compared to just about every other bar that serves food. I chalk this up as AYCE menu which I'm sure is not up to snuff to the regular menu of Applebees. That is typical of most AYCE. I apologize because we could've gone to our normal drinking hole that has overall better food & drink selection. Being cheap does not always make a good experience.

This is a good deal and they are actually good buffalo chicken nuggets. We went yesterday and every order was fresh.

Boneless wings are typically 100% breast meat, and according to Applebee's, there's are as well. The sauce can be overwhelming, so that's basically what you're tasting with boneless wings. Chicken nuggets are served plain but loaded with salt and flavorings, so in that case, you're really not tasting the chicken all that much. Especially if you're dipping them in sauce.
Given a choice, I prefer Wendy's chicken nuggets over the others. There are some that I haven't tried, but IMO, McDonald's are the worst! Too bland tasting. I prefer to judge them plain. Wendy's are so tasty that sauce is sometimes secondary. Regardless, I'm not a huge fan of chicken nuggets. I find boneless wings to be more satisfying.

I'm not sure what you're using as a comparison, but Applebee's isn't really cheap (except for the promotions). It could vary somewhat by area, but if anything, they're overpriced these days.

Just about most places are overpriced these days. You missed the part that I had a gift card from my initial post.

Agreed that the sodium is excessive....but let's put things into proper perspective (for the sake of accuracy vs. total condemnation). Firstly, these are intended as a shared appetizer. Therefore, eating 10 may as well be a meal (and then some) ....since contrary to popular belief here, they are definitely not the size of chicken nuggets and eating 10 of these at one sitting is a big portion of food (relatively speaking). The overly salty Buffalo sauce adds 2300 grams of sodium (and that would vary somewhat relative to the volume of sauce used). The 10 boneless wings themselves contain 1760 grams. The honey bbq sauce adds 900 grams (far less than the buffalo sauce). Your overall number is off (as it's actually 4060 grams). There's no need to comment on that, as I already agreed that it's excessive (either way)....but I reiterate, it's normally an appetizer, not a 10 piece meal. This 50 cent pig-out promotion is an exception to the rule (for some, at least). These are not unique with respect to sodium content. Unfortunately, you'd be surprised at how much sodium is in a wide variety of restaurant prepared (and frozen) foods. So unless one dedicates their time to home preparation (from scratch) of basically everything that they consume (just slightly unrealistic), welcome to the wonderful world of sodium overload!
No, you're not getting this whole perspective thing at all. It's 2 days worth of sodium in 10 nuggets. Why are you defending and shilling for Applebees?

An expensive nugget. A five piece boneless wing is about 300 grams. That's a little more than one ounce per piece. This "deal" means you are getting prepared chicken at $7.62/lb. Considering this is antibiotic treated factory white breast chicken meat that has been highly processed, frozen, thawed and warmed...it doesn't seem like a deal.

Had these today; I'll take the $0.70/pc "boneless wings" at Wingstop any day (Well, any Monday/Tuesday at least).

It's possible I got a bad batch but mine were undersauced, overcooked and half the weight of most the wings was made up of extremely salty breading. The breading itself reminded me of BWW's, just less meat (and the sauces weren't as good).

They're cheap enough to give 'em a try but they're not for me.
