I have both this and the D-handle. Great shovels, very durable. They serve different purposes. D-handle is better for moving soil from here to there, and shallow trenches. Long handle is better for deeper holes, like you need for trees, roses, etc.

It looks like this is regularly $29 at H. D. and other retail stores. The $46 regular price seems like a stretch.

Great shovels. However, I prefer D-handle now. I didn't think I would like it but I can't imagine going back now.

This shovel is amazing. I bought one 15 years ago and still solid. I was using it to pry a stump today. It won't die.

I have had this shovel for years. It is amazing over the typical lightweight stuff that is sold. This is a solid shovel. It has weight to it to help slam it into the earth. Probably weighs near double what a wood handled typical one weighs. Super sturdy. Highly recommended and at this price it is a steal. Might not be able to resist ordering another. Just get it if you want a shovel to last for years and if it does break Fiskars lifetime warranty is very easy sending a replacement. Their customer service is fantastic with their products!

Agreed D handle definitely makes digging easier and efficient.
But you need to be a bit careful with your wrist movement otherwise like my friend you would sprain the wrist.

Agreed, regarding the customer service. Mine snapped off at the shovel to handle joint and they sent me a new shovel. The cons are that it is heavy to wield for big jobs and it absorbs the ambient air temperature if its too hot or cold.
