Buying anything with a fabric top is getting into a perpetual loop of replacement until you end up spending more than it's worth as a whole.
Buying a durable, non-fabric topped outdoor structure just makes more sense in every way in the long run.

I don't think it would cost that much but it depends what kind you want. There has been huge popularity of those lever style steel top pergola. They are like shutters but I think many different brands use same thing and sell them, suddenly became popular I think they sent bunch of free ones to youtubers to gain traction. I am nit sure I trust those long term either.
I wanted to buy this actually, much cheaper and easier to build. If I am getting something with top that I need to remove at least it should be easyer to manage. My only complaint, we can't sit under that in light rain....

I have.
A sunbrella fabric car cover with a 6 year warranty. Replaced every year as it broke down and fell apart until the warranty ran out.
I'm not buying any fabric exposed to 24/7 outdoor conditions and expecting it to last more than a couple of years, ever.
With this product, the lifespan will be measured in years, not decades. Buy once, cry once.
