Is the next iPhone released in the US confirmed to be USB C? I'm hesitant to buy the lightning one if my next phone won't have lightning.
What are you asking? iPhone 15 is already USB C

All iPhones moving forward will be usb c unless they develop new tech that will make usb c obsolete. Lightning connection was just way too slow and old tech.

Trying to surprise the gf with this but finding out it's not the best for lightning plug iPhones and if she upgrades it won't be able to be used with usb c with the normal port makes it a maybe
Apparently, lightning to USB-C adapters work, but not the other way around.

If you don't mind a bit of tinkering, you might be able to conceal the adapter inside the controller.

Fair warning to everyone, since no one seems to ever mention it, after 1 year you need to pay a subscription fee to use their software... so this was a hard pass..

It will still work as a generic dumb plug in controller without their software but it loses a lot of functionality.

The only reason they switched is because of EU pressure to make everything standardized or risk the iPhone being banned in that region.

Apple rarely (never) does anything in everyone's best interest, simply because they have enough stranglehold to not have to.

No other company has gotten away with enforcing DRM in their cables. At least not for as long as they have.

Not sure why someone downvoted me. That is completely true. You can use the PlayStation streaming apps with the black "Xbox" version, and you can use the Xbox apps with the white "Playstation" one. The button caps match the system, but that won't affect using those apps.
Confirmed. I have a black version and bro has a white version. Identical I terms of use, Remote play for PS and XB both work, as does gamepass and Luna. Colors and branding are purely cosmetic.

Are there any differences in the buttons? Some users on Reddit are saying that the buttons on the PS version are "tactile/clicky" while the XB version is "linear" (using mechanical keyboard terminology).

Are there any that would work with a 12.9 iPad? Something you can attach to the sides like a giant switch?

This controller is not even Bluetooth. Has no battery even.

Subscription lets you use their launcher software. Subscription also lets you use it as a WIRED usbc controller - is my understanding. It is lame. Agree.

I have no need for either... great controller so far IMO.

Also - my original post prior to it being taken over and re-written mentioned the subscription.

Not a dumb no-name controller without subscription. It still uses vendor supported firmware and drivers.

I have used all the other controllers that us the vendor supported drivers and what not, and most of the games are not compatible with the controllers or suck and are completely awkward. Only a few games really ever work well without some software engine to customize the inputs.

They feel the same, biggest issue for me is the button icons, shapes vs XYAB, although I have the button position memorized for the most part. Majority of my gaming is on XB
