Haven't owned a turntable since the 80s but I have a bunch of collectible vinyl from my favorite band that isn't available to stream. I need a turntable I can rip from but don't know what the best connection protocol is. I have a MacBook with USB-C and Bluetooth. I prefer to broadcast wirelessly from turntable to play over speakers in different part of house. Any advice on features or models is appreciated.

Ideally, you would want a turntable with both USB and Bluetooth connectivity. In this particular sale, the AT-LP60XBT-USB-BK-CR [audio-technica.com] is the least expensive one with those features, but I don't think it's a good value at $195. The AT-LP120XUSB-BK-CR [audio-technica.com] may be a better value, but the price is getting up there. Alternatively, see if an open box Sony PS-LX310BT is available at a Best Buy near you. The Sony has both USB and Bluetooth.

If there is a way to record audio off Bluetooth on a Mac (using something like Audacity), then you don't need USB and can just get away with a Bluetooth-enabled turntable (like the $89 AT-LP60WH-BT-CR in the OP).

Turntable folks, are any of the players here worth investing in for serious use since most of them seem to lock you into AT's carts?

LP120 is a decent table but the price refurbed isn't great. Probably best to look at other options.

These are actually LP120X, the latest version with either USB or USB + Bluetooth connectivity. The USB + Bluetooth model is $120 below the regular price. Either version is rarely on sale, and these refurbished prices are lower than any of the post-COVID sale prices on new.

If they don't look like good values, it's only because turntables are unnecessarily expensive nowadays, and especially so over the past year. But they are well discounted from the normal street prices on new.

I forget which model I own I think the AT-LP3X without the Bluetooth because honestly what is the point of vinyl if you're going to compress it through BT (just my opinion). But I like it. I have over 200 pieces of vinyl and it does the job well. I enjoy fully automatic so once the record ends it doesn't sit there and skip till you lift the needle.

While I completely agree with you, I don't subscribe to the "post-COVID" artificial pricing so value is value. There are still better options for the money and taking a chance on refurb at inflated prices on a table that's just ok isn't really worth the roll of the dice. Just my personal opinion and nothing more. He asked for the turntable folks to chime in and I obliged. YMMV

For those looking for the 60xbt, Walmart sells the same (made by audio technica specifically for Walmart) for $159 vs. $219. They call it lpgo-bt, but it is the same besides it's gray vs. black and logo on felt mat is different. Better value in my opinion.

As someone who refinishes these turntables, I can say that they are exactly the same internally.

only AT-LP120XBT seems like a decent turntable, others look like toys.

Not true. The LP120XBT is not for the average person. That's a DJ table. I used to own a similar old Stanton model. The speed control was annoying.

Just find any good turntable that fits your budget. If it doesn't have a digital output like USB to work with, get a preamp that does.

You can get millions of suggestions on this, all I can tell you is that any good turntable will work and any decent preamp with a DAC will do the job - simply put, you would want to find something that has a USB output to work with and then use a computer to capture that output with.

I've seen turntables that have all of this and then also have a USB slot to put in a USB flash stick into it and just capture audio that way. The all in one solutions probably aren't the best turntables though... That's why I say you're better off getting a good turntable and using any sort of preamp that will do the digital conversion.
