I guess I thought the hacked part was self explanatory, but the grinder gets returned and the the returned credit puts the orginal item at 126.

I think this is the first time I've seen the variable speed grinder included as a 'free tool' in one of these deals.. typically it's just the fixed speed one - $250 is actually a pretty good price on hackzall+grinder (+battery/charger) if you need both.

Pretty sure it's the lowest the variable speed version's ever been. The fixed speed one can be had at or around that price pretty regularly, though.

It's constantly going in and out of stock. Just click on the notification button to be notified. I was notified about a half dozen times before I finally was able to get the pair.

I was really stuck on the 11A corded angle grinder for the extra power, but after much research I think that the variable speed will be more useful to me when using wire brushes, flap discs, etc. as a DIY homeowner. My understanding is that the Model# 2888-20 only equals the 11A corded models when used with a 6.0Ah XC battery or better. (this promotion comes with the 5.0 Ah XC battery.) For my light duty use however, I don't think I will really benefit from the extra power or 11.000 RPM of the corded models.

Yes, I think that you could. I would also look at the other promotions. You might find a different free tool that you want, an extra battery/charger, etc.

This one gets you a 6Ah battery or two angle grinders, but it's not variable speed and I don't think it was the FUEL version:

Yes, you can set the hackzall pick up at another store and then don't pick it up. After 5 days HD will cancel and refund the $125
