I've been waiting for a 2TB SSD with the enclosure included or with a cheap enough price to add an enclosure and still be at the $100 price point to replace an old 2TB G-Drive I have. This finally dropped below the usual sale price of $120. I bit and thought others might want to jump in as well.

OVERVIEW

The ultimate solution to blazing-fast portable storage. With read speeds of up to 1,050MB/s and write speeds of up to 1,000MB/s, you can edit like a pro even while you're on the move. Plus, with its compact and lightweight design you'll have access to high performance storage with a large capacity wherever and whenever you need it. Get ready to revolutionize the way you work and play with the Lenovo PS8 Portable SSD.

It would be if this were actually a TB3 or TB4 interface. The speed limitation is probably not the drive, but the fact that it's USB 3.1 Gen 2, which is limited to 10 GBPS, whereas thunderbolt 3 and 4 max out at 40 GBPS.

Still not a bad deal considering that decent USB 3.1 Gen 2 NVMe enclosures run about $20.

Overstock.com has it for the same price [bedbathandbeyond.com], in case you've got credit there.

Alright guys, how's this for an external gaming ssd. From what I've been reading even one that has around 500MBps throughput read/write will practically be the same as a PCIe4 nvme. If anyone has experience please let me know. The article I read is below.

Thanks.
I was not able to find if there's an easy way to open and swap the drive, Google didn't give much help.
I think even if it's possible, opening maybe a bit pain and not as easy as an enclosure

Read speed is rated slightly higher than write speed. To me that suggests that the drive, not the interface, is the limiting factor.

Read speed is very commonly a good deal faster than write speed, due to the propagation delay of write confirmation from the drive. That, and the peak read speed spec on this drive is just a bit inside of the theoretical maximum speed for USB 3.1 gen 2.

I was told that SSDs can be used in a Tesla but not sure if this one would work!
Has anyone used it or researched about it?

can't find anything about the controller used in this, but here is a thorough review of the speed test. Maybe someone can take a guess based on this info:

I own a Thinkpad which I ordered with min specs on the NVME. Made by a Lenovo affiliate. That NVME was notorious for failing fein what I read. I swapped it out on day of receipt as it was min specs and to be replaced anyway. They may have fixed Thier NVME drive issues but last year I got 2 desktops for my biz and NVME were from same affiliate. They were min specs and I swapped them out so can't opine on reliability.

At wok we have ~25 Thinkpad laptops, most 8th gen intel, some newer. 4 of the NVME drives failed, 2 of them were the LEN(ovo), 2 of them the low end WD drives. All 4 crapped out within the first few weeks. 3 of them were easy replacements, they just shipped the new drives to us in a few days and we returned the old ones. The 2nd out of the 4 bad one was a PIA for whatever reason with warranty, took 2 months to resolve, and had to send in the bad drive first. I did the same warranty process every time.
