I've been waiting for a 2TB SSD with the enclosure included or with a cheap enough price to add an enclosure and still be at the $100 price point to replace an old 2TB G-Drive I have. This finally dropped below the usual sale price of $120. I bit and thought others might want to jump in as well.

OVERVIEW

The ultimate solution to blazing-fast portable storage. With read speeds of up to 1,050MB/s and write speeds of up to 1,000MB/s, you can edit like a pro even while you're on the move. Plus, with its compact and lightweight design you'll have access to high performance storage with a large capacity wherever and whenever you need it. Get ready to revolutionize the way you work and play with the Lenovo PS8 Portable SSD.

It would be if this were actually a TB3 or TB4 interface. The speed limitation is probably not the drive, but the fact that it's USB 3.1 Gen 2, which is limited to 10 GBPS, whereas thunderbolt 3 and 4 max out at 40 GBPS.

Still not a bad deal considering that decent USB 3.1 Gen 2 NVMe enclosures run about $20.

For PS4 games and storage through USB, yes.

It's not fast enough to be salvaged and used in the 2nd ssd slot.

Do you know what drive is inside? I was trying to figure this out myself, even though it doesn't matter for my use case. Aren't the read/write speeds claimed due to the USB bottleneck of the enclosure and not the true speed of the drive inside?

I'm interested in knowing the drive inside. It looks to have the same spec as a samsung t7.

I own a Thinkpad which I ordered with min specs on the NVME. Made by a Lenovo affiliate. That NVME was notorious for failing fein what I read. I swapped it out on day of receipt as it was min specs and to be replaced anyway. They may have fixed Thier NVME drive issues but last year I got 2 desktops for my biz and NVME were from same affiliate. They were min specs and I swapped them out so can't opine on reliability.

Obviously it's for PS8, assuming it's backward compatible lol

jokes aside, I don't think there are any limitation on PS5 using USB since you can't play directly on it, it lets you store games on it.

Can we open it up and swap any other 2280 nvme drive?
If so, it's a good deal. As a thunderbolt enclosure alone costs 100ish, this has 2TB come with it

Google " early life failures of union memory m2 SSD" and " union memory NVME poor reliability". Maybe they fixed issues or it was isolated. I replaced all before deployment.
