Theatrical is superior IMO. Alien might be one of the only movies out there where the Director's Cut is actually shorter.

Imagine considering '2001 A Space Odyssey' a bad movie.

I did not realize the director's cut is shorter. What the heck did they remove?

I'm assuming nothing was added?

Aliens isn't part of this deal and you're wrong. MA and Vudu has the same. Also, FYI, buying Alien theatrical gives you the director's cut too in the special features.
So if I buy the Apple/iTunes version of Alien Theatrical, then the MA version to Vudu will also give me the Theatrical and Director's Cut (in special features) version?

I technically already have the HDX version so I'd be double dipping....

I feel you. But I'm not gonna cry over them taking away sh!t movies. Next time, if and when, just untie the prime video from your MA. It should stick (in theory) if they don't have access permission.

That's an interesting idea. Were you able to do that? Or is this prep for the future?

I wonder if you were to reconnect again whether the movies would disappear…

Pretty sure they would disappear. Authorization for borrowed movies, let's say on Disney, require you to renew the lease to keep it downloaded on a device. I'm assuming this is still the case when purchased. Just a prep for future decision making.

I had gotten the DVD Quadrilogy a while back for cheap ($5 or $10) with an SD code. MoviesAnywhere shows it as HD and Apple TV in particular has it as UHD. YMMV but I think they may all get upgraded for free as some platforms stop offering SD quality.
