FYI: The documentation says you can only add 8 (or maybe it was 10) leak detectors per gateway. If desired, you can add more. Just add additional sensors like you add the first 8. One of my gateways (old style like in this hot deal) currently has 19 sensors on it.

FYI 2: If you want to add one to an area that is conductive metal that would trip the leak sensor, say an AC drip pan, just put a small piece of paper towel between the detector and metal surface. Some folks do this even for non-conductive surfaces - the theory being that any moisture contact with the paper towel will wick water in triggering the sensor. (Multiple probes on the bottom of the sensor need to be wet to detect a leak.)

You can get it to send text warnings instead of email by getting your phone number email address. For instance, with Verizon (and Xfinity) it is your number [email protected]. I get so much junk mail that it is easy to miss the alert email. Not so with text.

I have eight sensors. After I set them up, I went through and tested them with a few water drops. When they went off, I went to the app and gave all the sensors a unique name, like "water heater."
Or you can name them when you set them up initially.

Not meaning to be snarky, just a hint for someone setting up for the first time.

I went to go buy them today and apparently I bought a 3 pack 3 years ago for $29.99... wanted to share the price for comparison, I'm sure that's thanks to a slickdeal post, and now hopefully I can find where I put them Smilie

I have loved these for a long time, until we upgraded our router to a new TP-Link Deco mesh system.

I know these don't work on 5Ghz, so we set up our guest network with 2.4ghz, and it still will not connect.

Tried many different setting sna security protocols. Only way I could get it to connect was to remove the password on the wifi completely.

Similar issue for me when I installed these couple of years back. My workaround was to put an old wireless 2.4ghz router as a wireless switch and use that wireless network exclusively for Govee. Has worked, no hiccups since then.

Hm good thought, I hadn't thought about that. Might try that thanks.

Check Wifi security setting. Some devices doesn't support WPA2 enterprise/WPA3 etc.

Yeah I tried all the different settings on that network. A google search said to turn on tkip, which I did, but to no avail. Only thing that worked was turning off security entirely.

Reviews about it requiring a simple wifi router network password are a show stopper if true.

I like these a lot but some of them have lasted for a year on one set of batteries, and some only go a few months. Batteries out of the same pack. Roughly same distance to the hub. Not sure what's going on.

Also, the screws to the battery compartment are pretty soft and some of mine are pretty worn out already.

Batteries last a long time. I have three. It works very well. I also have a way to shut off my water if a signal is sent. One time I had to turn it off when my son left the house after flushing the toilet.

Who came in handy yesterday? I have about eight all around the house and property and we have one under the dishwasher but also in front of the dishwasher.. yesterday dishwasher two went off and that's because there was a clog in the drain of the dishwasher and water was leaking out of the dishwasher so I was able to get up and turn off the dishwasher when only a tablespoon had fallen out

I can vouch for water sensors being effective (even with a different brand). A leak developed on my water heater a few weeks ago and the water sensor tripped when a tiny puddle formed underneath the leak. I was able to isolate the water heater quickly to prevent further flooding. Only con was that it happened in the middle of the night but better than finding a larger puddle in the morning.
