Good price, but be warned this saw is only $28 for a reason. It has a stamped steel guide plate. Mine bent with little use and will never be the same which causes unwanted bevel cuts. The pricier saws have a cast plate which won't bend.

For many projects, a 120V tool is a better choice than a battery tool.

Bought this last time there was a sale in November of 23. Works fine for basic cutting - solid wood doors, studs, etc. No worrying about batteries, but power cord was very short.

Very true. I got frustrated with my battery circular saw and bought a used one from the thrift store to complete a project because of how often I had to pause what I was doing to switch batteries and charge them

Sounds like you need bigger better batteries, my 6Ah lasts a while.

Which model cordless saw, and which batteries? Not all cordless are made the same.

This model bounces around the $30 - $35 pretty often. It's $29.97 at Wally World. I think this is the model I received as a gift a couple years ago and got rid of it. I could tell a heck of a difference between this saw and my Bosch when cross cutting plywood, when I didnt have access to a table or a track saw. The motor gets pretty warm under pressure too. This one is only 13 amp while my Bosch is 15 amp. Would be good for light/general hobby use, not if you plan on cutting a bunch of 1/2" treated plywood.

steel guide plate was not perpendicular to blade and would not cut straight. I regret buying it even for this price

I have the 20 volt Dewalt (DCS391B) 6.5" saw that came in a kit. With a 5 amp hour battery it's done everything I wanted it to do. It's not for ripping 2" hardwood, but I've never had an issue. Light. Portable. Accurate. Just swap out the blade it comes with for Diablo and you're golden.

I picked this up last year to have a quick cheap circ saw I can plug in, decent beginner/basic saw but has some drawbacks as others have mentioned. One thing no one has mentioned is just how loud this saw is, hearing protection highly recommended.

I got corded tools from years ago, will be using years from now. ZERO issues using them, nor will expect to have issues.

Whereas my Dewalt and Milwaukee cordless tools could be gone 10yrs from now.... and cost a lot more.

But that said, I just spent a fair amount of time with my Milwaukee cordless saw and didn't regret having it.

It's nearly identical to the one I bought in 2002 and it's been going strong for $30. Highly recommend as saw even for handyman since that's what I've been using it for.
