I would at least get the v11. I have it and it picks things up fairly well. Any weaker and I can see it being an issue.

Is V8+ one of those with replaceable battery? I would only buy the ones that you can replace the battery on these refurbs.

I believe that Animal means it has a brush head for carpet. Fluffy is for hardwood and non carpet floors and Ultimate has both.

I've had my v8 for around 5 years, pulled it apart once in that time to do a deep clean but it still runs great. However, the batteries are crap, I had to replace the original with a knock off Amazon one and have recently replaced it again, but at around $30 it's more than a reasonable cost to me.

If you have any carpet areas, even throw rugs, you will be disappointed if you only get the fluffy head. I went with the V10 Animal Cordless from Woot to save a few bucks (looks like the same 6 month warranty), although I may upgrade later with the Laser Slim Fluffy head attachment if I really find the need to get every single piece of dirt and dog hair removed from the entire house.
