Agree, I have several of these in a couple of small businesses that I manage. They're perfect for home or small office use. I was happy that Netgear got away from that stupid app that you had to install on a computer in order to manage them, now you can do 100% through the web interface. Creating VLANS is a snap and having the ability to individually power cycle PoE ports is a huge plus!!! Great post OP
edit: the 230Watt multi-Gig is on sale for $280 too but I have no experience with it but I am digging the PoE++

So that's less than 8W per port if you use all 8 ports.
Some load devices of course will use 8W or even well under that so it's viable for cases where you have
several or all such low max-power loads so you stand a good chance of being able to use all or most all
of your POE ports on this switch.
Other load devices reliably will sometimes use well over 8W each at which point it's important to understand you might only be able to power, say, 4-6 of those or whatever per. the particular details.
So far we've leaned toward getting the variant model switches with 120W+ power capacity for 8 or fewer ports so can handle some larger power consumption devices and those switches have been working well for us.
For example, in case of power outage, I only need two POE devices on. The rest can be turned off.

Some of these switches (netgear poe models I've used) have Web-UI based controls on per-port POE availability and IIRC power limits.
I don't know if some models of switches they make don't have that capability.
I also don't know if they have any API-friendly option to manage any switch settings like say SNMP, though
I kind of doubt it since sadly "web pages" that are almost useless to automate have taken over from actual machine API friendly control / monitoring protocols for most "consumer" and many SOHO devices.
But I guess with enough effort you could script a "web" interaction to power-manage the ports?

Nice find! I haven't seen it for that price.
