EVs are still not as reliable as ICE. This guy who owned Tesla Model S who drove 1 million miles, had to replace the battery 3 times and the motor unit 13 times. Also EVs usually replace tires more frequently since the vehicle is much heavier. Just saying, if Fisker is less common, how much will it cost to replace the battery pack or motor if it fails.

Also would avoid Chinese EVs like BYD. They are known to catch on fire more often. So bad that even in China, the citizens start to regret after purchasing it.

Sounds like you won't really be able to find one of the cheaper ones even if you decide to ignore all the red flags and try to buy one anyway...

The only newer and up and coming car company besides Tesla (which after 15 years is probably not considered new anymore) that I would even feel comfortable with after sales support in 5 years would be POLESTAR. Yes, it is more or less an offshoot of Volvo...but their vehicles are different enough now...not just rebranded VOLVOs and their parent company is large enough to survive this and I believe if they do go under...VOLVO will take care of POLESTAR customers, without question.
The best EVs are currently made by Hyundai and Porsche. Not sure why anyone would even take a chance with Tesla or any other startup. Tesla had a long documented history of not taking care of their customers. They are synonymous with low quality rattlebox level, appliance cars.

The idea of hydrogen is more favorable than EV long term for our planet IMO.

Building these hefty batteries is not good for our planet and especially with the material that is indeed to build them will eventually run out.

Toyota is sticking with hydrogen, just like their hybrid technology,
Hydrogen will never be safe for consumers. You have to be off your rocker if you think hydrogen vehicles are a good idea. You must have fell for some tech propaganda bs. lets put nuclear reactors in cars while we are at it!

He's referring to before Tesla cut their prices.
Then that should have been said in the original post.

did you think the Model Y was ALWAYS $41k? lol.

were you not there when the model Y hit $80k during the pandemic before elon started aggressively cutting prices. what was hard to believe? a quick googling will show you the truth? here's a google docs of someone tracking the price... anyone can see.

https://docs.google.com/spreadshe...=231426599 [google.com]

$66k pretax with 0 options. add FSD for 12k and tax/license/fee you just hit $80k, and there was no $7.5k rebate at the time since tesla already hit their max 200k cars produced (before the new rule). the subreddit was full of people PISSED at the insane price cutting tesla has been doing. i didn't pay for an $80k Model Y but i definitely paid almost $65k out the door
That should have been mentioned earlier in that post instead of being vauge.

There are people that pay WAY over for non EVs too during the pandemic and still are for ICE vehicles. In California dealers were charging an extra $5k OR MORE for a Corolla....a freaking Corolla and people were paying it. That was up until early last year too!

So EVs aren't the only vehicles that were hit hard with dealers charging way more than what they actually cost and yet the Government lets it happen, again and again, year after year.

It is "after" the rebate not before (anything remotely comparable to an ocean extreme is model y performance)..there is no such thing as "instant rebate" and the federal tax credit doesn't apply to every one (I don't qualify). I could get a fully loaded loaded extreme (everything maxed out) with a 130kw battery, dual motor, with 360 mile range with definitely better built quality (magma vs Tesla is not even comparable) for 37K as opposed to ~50K for a Tesla.
Yes there is a risk, of course, but the fisker extreme is very tempting at this price point if they can live up to the warranty
There are plenty of reason to not get a Fisker that can be easily found on the internet. Yes, same for Tesla but Tesla at least has the ability to repair the vehicles in a reasonable time.

And yes, it is an instant rebate. The new tax credit rule went into effect this year and takes the federal reabte, whatever it may be, right off the price of the vehicle when you buy it. You still have to file that in your taxes but you don't have to wait until tax season to get that rebate back.

And yes, Fisker isn't eligble for the tax credit. If you had made the order in 2022 then you could have received the credit.....

Too bad, this was one of the better-looking EVs in the market.
Of course, after Model Y : )

If you want a real deal get a used EV with 4k federal rebate + state rebate + local incentives. I got my 2020 Hyundai Kona for less than $12k in MA
How used? How many miles were on it?

Weird then that Tesla massively outsells them (and every other western car company in the world) in EVs.

Almost like reality does not reflect your fantasy Smilie
Let's check in on this in a couple of years.

I live in Massachusetts, what incentives are you talking about? Can you be more specific?
