Are these the same guys that offer me lifetime warranty if I chuck my plastic rake into the storage shed and all the tines snap off?

I certainly think there is too much risk in buying one of these Fisker's. If they go bankrupt, then you can't get the car repaired and that would be a disaster. I wouldn't buy one of these, not even for $20,000.
Just learn to weld ?!? Just learn how batteries work?!

This is fine if you plan to use your car around home. But for people who need a vehicle to both commute and to drive on trips, this lack of infrastructure is an issue. A $40000 limited utility vehicle is a luxury for some people. I may consider a EV to my next car, albeit I only purchase one every 6-10 years, but will always keep a gas powered one for trips. If I could buy a good EV for around $20k I'd probably have one right now just for the ability to use the hov lanes but I do t trust any used ones that I see on that price range. They are low end models with paltry range or Tesla like ones with high mileage and a fear of having to put in a new battery.
Got get a bolt. Under 20k after 7500 off. reliable tiny peppy car.

Expensive gamble buying one. Fiskar autos are also known to be of poor quality.

Never buy an EV unless it is from Tesla or a reputable Chinese company.

Bs…not even close…show me a model Y with specs even close to the fisker extreme at 35k…I'll wait
Many early Tesla owners have their batteries, charge ports and motors replaced before the 8 years warranty ends.
When your Fisker extreme has something wrong in a few years, good luck living with that.

It's really not.

You charge at said home, so unless you're driving north of 250-300 miles per day you never need to use a public charger at all.

If you do take the occasional road trip you drive 300 miles from home, stop at a supercharger for 15 minutes--- similar as you would stopping at a gas station to refuel, use the bathroom, get a drink.... then get back on the road for another 150-200 miles.

That gets you 500 miles from home in about the same time it takes in a gas car (though at lower cost).

Most folks don't drive more than 500 miles a day at all (personally I fly if I'm going a lot further than that)--- but even if you do, a second 15-20 minute stop gets you to ~700 miles on the full day of driving.

There's nothing really "limited" unless you have to, I dunno, tow a 15,000 pound trailer 1000 miles a day or something insanely niche.

40k is also considerably cheaper than the average new car in the US FYI.

Never buy a full EV. Just google what happened in Chicago few months ago. In sub freezing, EV would not charge.

To be clear- what happened was some idiots rented EVs for use with Uber and Lyft but didn't bother to read the owners manual first.

So they were pulling into charging stations with near-dead batteries in the first place (a thing you'd never do if you bothered to read the directions)--- then compounded that by not having put in the charger as their destination (which preheats the battery for charging-- again the manual tells you this).

Places that get colder, for longer, than Chicago have no such issues--- because they're mostly people who actually own the cars and actually understand how to keep them charged.

More detail here on why this was mostly user error by rideshare rental cars here:

Ne. We're talking about 40% reduction when temperature gets cold. There is a reason why Tesla sale in Japan is pathetic. I think there were months when Tesla only sold a single digit in Japan.

...what?

Japan doesn't even get especially cold where most of the people live.

Go look up Tesla sales in Norway sometime to see how ridiculous your argument is here. (they were about 1 in every 5 cars sold there in 2023).

There's reasons EVs sell in very low #s in Japan, but weather ain't it.

FYI Chevy ended production of the bolt late last year.... there's a TINY handful left nationwide you could get for the price you suggest (at a glance I only see 15 in the whole country)-- and then another hundred or two that'd be 2-5k more, and then they're all gone.

Perfectly reasonable commuter car- the fast charging speed is pretty garbage but if planning to use locally it won't be relevant.

If we look back at FedEx's history, if enough people buy from Fisker, they may last long enough to turn up a profit and do well in the long run.

I drive a hybrid plug-in. I get 50 miles when weather is above 60 degrees. Under 40 degrees, I get under 30 miles on a full charge. We're talking about 40% reduction when temperature gets cold. There is a reason why Tesla sale in Japan is pathetic. I think there were months when Tesla only sold a single digit in Japan.
This is basically misinformation. One charging station in Chicago out of about 2,000 in the whole country went out for a single day. The cars themselves work fine in the extreme cold, albeit yes with 10-30% reduced range. It's like saying a gas station in Portland shut down for a day, and therefore you shouldn't buy a gas car.

That should have been mentioned earlier in that post instead of being vauge.

There are people that pay WAY over for non EVs too during the pandemic and still are for ICE vehicles. In California dealers were charging an extra $5k OR MORE for a Corolla....a freaking Corolla and people were paying it. That was up until early last year too!

So EVs aren't the only vehicles that were hit hard with dealers charging way more than what they actually cost and yet the Government lets it happen, again and again, year after year.
i'm not sure how i was being vague? the only way my post made sense is if someone overpaid for the model Y though? he asked what happened to the people that paid full price before the 40% cut. So I said just ask the people that overpaid and paid $80k for the model Y and now its 40k.

What exact did you think i was talking about? some mental gymnastics there...

This might come as a surprise to you, but the city of Graz, where this car is made, is actually in Austria, not China.

https://ch4rge.com/electric-vehic...-is-built/

There's plenty of other reasons to avoid buying it- but yours is not one of them.
