How do I get it to 9.99?
Note the directions at the top -- you have to (1) clip the coupon and (2) enter the separate code at checkout. You have to do both of those steps to get to the 9.99.
No hate but possible to put speeds in title or description next time? The speeds could nerf the crap out of every ssd if it's not ultra fast USB c speed capibility.

Any thumbdrive style enclosures where a cable isn't needed?
Probably not for something this big due to stress on the socket an USB c not even being secure . But what you may be able to find is a c to c adaptor that is very short /designed to replace a cable
This is the one I have currently. The body is all aluminum and surprisingly not so heavy that I'm worried about stressing the usb port. Also my desktop the port is situated on the x axis so the thumbdrive is pointed upwards instead of outwards. As for it just free hanging off a mounted phone/tablet, it's actually quite balanced
Overall it's just less cumbersome compared to an enclosure with a separate cable. You just have one thing to plug in.
Yeaa, that's gonna stick out too much lol. Was thinking more of an enclosure not an adapter. But that is interesting, didn't know such an adapter existed lol

Is it a set-it-and-forget-it type of situation for a desktop or something?

There's never going to be an instance where you wouldn't want this attached by cable. It wouldn't be marketable.
But if you must fulfill this weird ask, the best you can do is a USB-C male to USB-C male coupler adapter like this:

It's not a dedicated enclosure, but it does have what you're looking for.
