Figured it out - $1,796 is the spot price for 25 gram of gold today. So looking purely from the perspectives of the value of gold, this is not a good deal. Previous deals for Canadian maple or US Golden eagle were much better because with 4% Costco card discount, you could almost break even with the spot price with those.

Ps. 100 gram deal is much better because you are coming out ahead vs the spot price with 4% Costco card discount

But the 25g for sale is 25 individual 1g units so you are paying for the additional processing. The 50g was the best value but it is sold out.

Yep - the premium is much higher because you're buying a sheet of qty 25 1 gram coins.
