The bag I bought maybe six months ago had a TON of debris in it. However, I noticed the price reduction a week ago and decided to give them another chance and I ordered a 40 lb. bag. There is hardly any debris at all in it. So hopefully they have corrected the problem.

Actually I was just reading the reviews and a lot of people are complaining about derbies other than twigs and stuff quality has gone down a lot. So Pennington wrote back and apologize and said they're switching from automation to I guess manual so they do know there's a problem. So I guess that's why they're trying to get rid of their crappy load of seed so they could switch over and send out the upgraded bags. Just something to watch out for like I said I read the reviews.

It depends where you live for when you plant them. I'm in Massachusetts and plant them in the spring. I also planted some in later in August and in October, right before frost, got a nice little plot of 3 foot sunflowers in bloom.
