Wasn't anticipating replying to a scratching post thread, but this one is actually pretty great. Higher than most, and our cats seem to enjoy the stretch, very durable and actually looks decent for what it is.

These are fantastic! I purchased one in Dec 2015 for $32 (probably a SlickDeal). I'd say it was in good shape until maybe 2021? The middle section is almost completely worn away, but it is still in use. We were able to train our cats away from clawing the woodwork, though they still sometimes go for furniture when they are being neurotic. Definitely buying one from this deal.

I know I'm going to sound like a bot here, but this scratching post really is great. I originally bought it bc it is taller than usual. It ended up lasting 6 years with one cat. I bought a 2nd one right away, but I have 3 cats now, so we'll see how long this one makes it.

My cat loved this but unfortunately for his whole life I had ones where they had carpet at the bottom and he scratches at that. This one is nice but the bottom is bare wood. So he started scratching and pulling at the carpet next to it. I switched back to one with carpet on the bottom. It's good quality and looks nice though.

They make scratching post things that fit over the door knobs or you can get the kind that mount on the walls and put it next to the door.
