This is a tepid deal.

I picked up the Hisense AX Series 5.1.2 Ch 420W Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer, Wireless Rear Speakers, and Dolby Atmos (AX5120G, 2023 Model) for $129 during black Friday at Walmart.

How does it compare with this, good review in rtings (https://a.co/d/3O23pFX Vizio V51, $160)

Do not buy a Vizio sound bar. I had two different ones over the years, a 3.1 and a 3.1.2, and both were kind of lousy, plus the Atmos one constantly had issues turning on with the TV, audio not coming through, and the Atmos speakers not outputting when playing Atmos content.

Ditto. Well, I gifted it to my folks for the holidays, and they seem happy with it (they only have it connected by Optical as their TV is old AF, so they're not really taking full advantage of it, but even so it sounds pretty decent. Also no random disconnects or anything that has required me to make any adjustments (they are not too tech savvy).

Is this a good brand?
The TV is good, not sure about the audio. However, there is a RTINGS review of its sibling, AX5125h, which received a mixed usage score of 7.9.
https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/r...se/ax5125h
The only difference between these two models is the rear speakers. Therefore, I believe AX3125h is good enough at the price of $160.

FYI.

Last November I bought a 75" Hisense Class U75K Series TV.
I also bought this unit from Walmart for the previously-mentioned $130.
I like the combo, they work well together.
One issue: The Apple TV 4K 128GB (3rd generation) does not really support Amtos, so there are random disconnects/audio dropouts for a few (1-4) seconds at a time. Only with my Apple TV 4K - not for the built-in Google TV, or over-the-air-HD, or Roku. I disabled "Atmos" on the Apple TV and the issue on the Apple TV went away.

Would this be on par with computer speakers for close range? I have a 55" c2 as a monitor and the speakers suck so I wanted something for close range and distance when using it as a TV.

Would this work well with a 100" tv?

Literally no clue why this was downvoted, I was genuinely curious, as I've never had a 100" tv before, but go off.😅

I got this for my older brother as a gift along with a 75" Hisense u7k. I own several higher end Auro 3d / atmos set ups and am into manual calibration/ room acoustics.

All that to say Im very happy with its performance all considered. The upfiring speakers worked well in his flat untextured 8ft ceilings, bass is solid down to about 40hz. The sound bar is really reliant on the subwoofer it must be crossed at around 300hz but that's nothing new for soundbars.

7/10 all considered. I give the tv a 6.5/10 imho
