Didn't know what zip was, but after signing up it looks like a finance thing and I have to split payments and pay a finance charge, no option to just pay it all off. This looks like a good deal otherwise. Might just wait again since goharddrives seem to have quite a lot of sales lately.

If these are the exos, they legit sound like a small jackhammer going off. Not a problem if you're using this to store games, but if you use this in the living room computer watching a movie while writing, definitely noticeable.
If you're watching a movie while writing, I'd think the movie would be more distracting than the disk noises...

Yes, lots of people make decisions based upon fear and are unable to do the math of risk and value, nor are able to understand the failure statistics of refurbished products and infant mortality.

It's great though because it means better prices for those of us with a clue who buy up these great deals with no ill consequences.

stay fearful my friend, nothing to see here!
right? some people are crazy without doing research. a lot of the drive practically has 0 hours

I love the MDD brand rebrands, I have/had zero issues with my 3 original hard drives still running on my Synology NAS after 2 years they are EXOS.

I just ordered four more (make sure you run an extended test)

MDD, never heard of them. Are those legit? Enterprise or consumer grade?
They are rebadge 'whatever they can get their hands on currently' drives.

I see a lot of chia farmers buying these drives. It was extremely cheap for the price. Why only farm 200 plots when you can farm 400 plots at the same price...

That is absolutely not true. They have 3 different versions and the 14tb enterprise are Seagate exos x18. They use oos firmware and I have a bunch of them. I burned them in for a week. No issues to speak of and they are in service for over a year. They have 5 year warranty which is the same as factory for a third the cost. So use raid and backup and you should be fine. If it's not for you this is OK but at least we can inform people with accurate information. now I have the enterprise ones so they could be another drive but I have always seen these be exos drives at 14tb.

who is the manufactuer of this, is maxtor still around??
MDD, is a white label brand owned by Goharddrive. They sources stocks of new and refurbished stock, but EOL hard disk drives. All MDD drives are OEM. In short, MDD's name is placed on someone else's drive.

No. It's buying a used Porsche that's been detailed. Just because it's not coming out of a Porsche dealership doesn't make it any less of a Porsche. Make sense?
I get he's half wrong thinking some of the internals have been swapped. But he's half right with the odometer analogy ain't he?

Detailing a car is different than wiping the odometer clean which is what they're doing when they're wiping the history of the hdd is how it sounds.
