This post is
factually accurate, but is still an April Fool post, just not one that involves deception.
Are you a super-cheapskate and still want to fuel your gainz?
The answer is roasted soybeans!
There are several ways to get roasted soybeans, starting at about
0.3¢ per gram of protein, or
3 grams per penny. This is less than one-fifth the price per gram of the cheapest protein powder I've analyzed.
- The cheapest way is to go to a rural livestock feed store.
- Roasted soybeans sold for livestock are safe for human consumption, and don't taste terrible if you add a little salt.
- They will probably sell roasted soybeans for $0.50/lb or less YMMV. That nets out to about 0.3¢/gram of protein.
- Do not eat raw soybeans. Buy the roasted beans or roast them yourself. Raw soybeans are not safe for human consumption.
- It may be GMO. Non-GMO may be available and will still be dirt cheap.
- You will have trouble finding this online. Most rural livestock feed stores do not post their pricing online, and many don't even have a website.
- 0.72¢/g Protein - KLC Farms Roasted Soybeans, shipped [roastedbeans.com]
- Price: $63.25 for 50 lbs shipped to my address, other locations in USA should have similar cost. YMMV
- It is probably GMO.
- Most of the cost is shipping. Only $18.25 is the product itself.
- 0.81¢/g Protein - Amazon has a vendor selling 50lb of non-GMO soybeans for $70.99, shipped [amazon.com]
- Link is to Amazon home page because the vendor/product does not have enough history to post as a slick deal.
- Search for 50lb roasted soybeans.
- 2.56¢/g Protein - Be Still Farms Non-GMO roasted Soybeans sold as people food w/20% coupon and 5-item S&S discount [amazon.com]
- They totally gank you on the "sold for humans" stuff. 2.56¢/g is similar to the cheaper whey protein powders, and more expensive than some of the pea/soy protein powders.
- $22.43 for 5 lbs with 20% Amazon "clipped" coupon on first S&S order and full 5-item S&S.
- $25.07 with 20% coupon and 1-item S&S.
- $32.99 without S&S. Coupon not available without S&S.

In comparison, the cheapest whey protein powders I have ever analyzed, on deep sale, are around 1.9¢ per gram of protein for whey. Some vegan powders are as low as 1.6¢. Big name brands around 2.3¢, big whey isolates close to 3¢.
With the neon llama fur, were your soybeans grown near the Springfield Nuclear Reactor?
- I used to use the unsalted version of those peanuts to make peanut butter, until I got burned out on peanuts & switched to pecans.
- Usually buy the fresh chicken breasts & eye of round at Sam's
- Loaded up on the last Amazon/Bumblebee tuna deal. However, the Starkist does taste marginally better, though.
- I go back and forth with the cottage cheese. Lately, I have been purchasing the Daisy brand. Friendship Dairies is probably slightly healthier, but sometimes it can be hard to find. However I have bought quite a few of the Walmart ones as it is cheap.
- I typically buy the Great Value egg whites.
Your list is close to my typical diet minus the cattle feed.

OMG! Why would they poison the rats?
Being a cat, live rats are an even better form of protein, and totally free! We want those! Delicious, high in protein and taurine, an essential amino acid (if you are a cat), and they also are fun to play with.
The moobs are still real!
Tons of fat and carbs in soybeans. Plus the beer you humans use to wash it down.
