Well they did eventually release the complete set of all 6 original series films and is selling on Amazon for $76.99 right now. If you don't care about Star Trek V and VI, then yes this deal is worth jumping on. The individual 4K releases are also selling for about $20 right now so you could just pick those two films up in addition to this deal but then you're spending $68 doing that to have a non-OCD compliant arrangement of discs on your shelf lol. But if that doesn't bother you, like myself haha, then it would be cheaper sure. I got the 6 film set I think around $60ish last year.

Thank you! The oddness of the shelf will bug me a bit but I can get over it lol

Let's say Phase II would have lasted 4 seasons as the flagship show of the Paramount Network, with about 13 episodes per season, or roughly 9 hours of screen time per season. That would be about 36 hours of Star Trek with TOS characters that I love.
36 hours vs 11 hours - more than 3 times as much material. That would also have allowed for a lot more character development for the supporting characters, which was mostly missing from the movies. I also prefer the short format, where an entire story is told in about 40 minutes.
With the movies, we got 6 stories, and I ended up not really liking 3 of them particularly. (don't even get me started about the travesty of X - but that's Next Generation) That's I, III and V, which means half of them that were just so-so to me as a Trekkie.
If we had 36 episodes of Phase II, I'm sure there would have been far more than 3 stories that I liked out of them. So those are my reasons for wishing we had gotten the show, instead of the movies.
Your kids will fight for custody of that one.
