Back then I thought Starbucks was a treat. Then my wife got a basic Breville express with whole beans.

Starbucks doesn't taste good anymore.

The Walmart brand Colombian instant tastes better than Nescafe. The one that tastes better than both is Bustelo.

Coffee lover here, and recently got into instant.

Growing up, I thought it was nasty, but I've come to find it was because my parents would just burn it with boiling water. To make proper instant coffee, it needs to be stirred first in cold water or cold milk, and only after that, should hot, not boiling, water can be added stirred in.

Makes a perfect cup.

Now I think Instant Coffee is the most cost efficient, time efficient, good for the environment, AND tastes pretty good.

Hmmm. Might try to stir some with my almond milk first, why not.

My jar has best by date of Feb 2026. Opening the lid (intentionally or not) broke the vacuum and conveniently peeled a portion of the seal for me which is new to me. Made in Mexico.

My local Chinese mini market used to have a supply of this coffee from Brazil (label text in Portuguese only, so I assume it was gray market) for $4, 250g IIRC when US stores sold the smaller 7oz version for $4-6 in 2020 (same glass bottle shape, different size). Not sure how (or why) they got smuggled to NYC but cheap coffee is always welcome lol.
