Why do they show these things just cram-packed with food?

That just results in soggy food, which takes 8 times longer to cook.

When you cook in those models of air fryer, you do it one layer only.

That's kind of the point of the thing - you use an air fryer to get crispy results, using the fan to spread out the oil in what you're cooking, to replicate the 'frying' effect.

Anything more than 1 layer defeats the purpose.

What you need is a length/width, not a volume measurement for how much you can really cook in 'em.

This or 7-QT Gourmia from Costco [costco.com] for $49.99? There was a post somewhere on FB mentioning that this 7-QT Gourmia is on discount in-store at Costco for around $35 (cannot find that post and don't remember the total discount price).

I love my 8qt Gourmia, but a year later my wife says she can still smell the burning plastic smell on the food. Not me! Mmmmmmmm......

While I like my Gourmia, it still smells all plastic-y while in use, and I've had it almost a year and use it at least twice a week. It's not this model, though. It's some 7.5qt or something like that.

Bought this exact model around Christmas for $39 at Target.

So, $59 seems expensive to me.

Same, but moisture does get behind the digital screen and is slowly breaking it... Electronics probly won't last forever

Hey! I have a different model of Gourmia. Also, ran the recommended water cycle a few times. Unfortunately, still get the plastic/odd fume smell.

Hello! I replied to someone else about the same thing. Many people have described it to me like burning plastic/water moisture in food (soggy watered salad?)

My Insignia air fryer has been recalled again. I see complaints of plastic smell in the Gourmia ones.

Any recommendations on another air fryer at least 5qt in size?
