The remakes are coming soon I'd hold out for those instead.

I have all of these (from previous purchases) but found 1&2 almost unplayable when I tried to play them on my steam deck, would only recommend 3 to a stranger, but 3 is fun.

If they sold it as a trilogy it'd be a much better deal and more incentivizing.

1 and 2 are fairly old games while the 3rd has modern controls so easier to get used to.

1 and 2 are mostly unplayable on modern computers without modding. I bought the trilogy on sale a while back and forgot about it as one does with steam sales. After going down the Alan Wake rabbit hole I installed and immediately found them to crash after the title screen... Tried to get a refund, but to not surprise that that didn't happen. Luckily the community has patches that allows proper resolution, upscaled textures and most importantly allows it to run without immediately crashing.

Yeah it's some effort, but I did appreciate running through them since I missed out when they were originally released. The gameplay can feel a little dated obviously and the difficulty can lead to save scumming, but I liked the crime noir tone of the series. 3 kind of loses that charm as well as the comic aesthetic from the previous titles. Oh you also have to deal with Rockstar's social club DRM, which pisses off a lot of people. A lot of trade offs for nostalgia I guess lol

3 also has those damn long cut scenes you can't skip. Obviously they're fine the first play through but I don't need the full story again and again.

Yeah, if you're the type who wants to 100% a game, those cutscenes are way too long to be unskippable.

3 is such a great movie like shooter game, i frickin loved the story and gameplay. I so wish we had games like this nowadays.

Anyone that played and loved 3 can you recommend something similar?

I played 2 a few months ago and felt great on mouse and keyboard, don't remember any headache tinkering to get setup, maybe a reddit help thread at worst.

And yeah the unstoppable cutscenes in 3 is a huge bummer, especially when they put the effort to put in speedrun modes and such, love the game but some qol is greatly desired for replays

Kane & lynch 2 gets a bad rap but it's a wild quick ride, similar vibe to mp3

Vanquish, sniper elite, maximum action, f.e.a.r., stranglehold (gog) call of Juarez, my friend Pedro, control, severed steel, trepang², El Paso, elsewhere, superhot
