A friend of mine works for the company , company itself sucks but their monitors are solid.

I previously have this model of Deco monitor and I faced monitor flickers off and on issue after using it for a year. I tried it with multiple laptops and PCs and the issue was always there. Take caution!

Or the Samsung one from micro center last week?

I would always go for QHD for the same price but I guess it depends what you need it for.

Where's the guys who flame on VA panels when you need them to help deter me from getting this?

I've used two different LG ultrawide VA monitors (one was 35" 100hz which i returned due to heavy black smearing and ghosting, and my current one is 34" 165hz) and for the 34", honestly it's not bad at all. But i play more visually high quality single player games (horizon zero dawn, tomb raider, days gone, etc) rather than fast paced first person shooters like Overwatch. It's nice for movie watching too, seeing it fill up the whole screen. VA has better contrast than IPS which can be nice for visual fidelity under certain conditions.

Bought one of these on a slick deal a few months back. Out of the box worked for a total of 5 minutes. Then it immediately started flickering. I unplugged my MacBook Pro. Images were ghosted on the monitor like what would happen with burn in. I unplugged the monitor. Restarted everything and then again flickering. I tried different cables, different inputs and another computer. All the same flickering and ghosting issues. Company did not respond to my support requests. So thankfully I was able to return through Amazon. Maybe I just got a bad one, but I see someone else commented in this thread that flickering happened after a year. So def not worth the risk in my opinion. You get what you pay for. Buyer beware.

This company finds products sold on Alibaba and then works with the factory to rebrand them under the "decobrands" name. Expect prices to be low but quality to also be low

What do you think every other company does?

Rebranding the same item that originates in one or two overseas factories is how companies make their bread and butter.

Look at Amazon Basics, for instance.

Curved monitor is weird. I would just use flat 34" monitor

Flickering is often due to bad capacitors, which are 50 cent parts that are notorious for failing in every product, regardless of brand.

Some capacitors are higher quality than others, but all of them eventually stop working.

If they used the same supply of defective capacitors for an entire line of products, chances are they could just have had a bad run (it happened to Samsung TVs in the early 2010s).

It might be unfortunate to have it happen with something you just bought, but having the ability to replace them when needed can save you a fortune.
