BONUS1500 Promo code during account creation to be eligible. I've personally just gone through this today, and the promo was auto-applied, showing in top banner of each page as I went through the signup. They almost caught me to create a new Savings account too with a single click, but skipped that one. On the following screen it showed me my new account and routing numbers, along with the promo details, the code and terms listed yet again.
No published expiry date at this time.

Qualifying deposit will be judged by the balance in your account from days 15-105 of account opening. For example, if you had funded the account with $50 on day 2, but then transferred $99,950 on day 14, you're eligible for $1500 bonus back in your account by day 165 of account opening. Alternatively, if you added $20,001 on day 2 and left it there until withdrawing $2 on day 104, you will receive a $0 bonus.

Surprised that nobody in this thread even understands what's going on. For $20,000, 4.35% APY over 3 months is $217.50, however you're also getting a $300 bonus, so you're getting $517.50 for 3 months. That equates to10.35% APY.

This is the same for the other deposit amounts.
Doesn't look like it if you currently have one.
They clearly address that at the beginning of the footnotes at bottom of main deal page, listing multiple account types open with them "on or after January 1, 2022" as making you ineligible for this offer. I'd encourage all to RTFM for straightforward questions like these.
There are quite a few other High Yield Savings Accounts that don't have such restrictions and have higher rates of return. Here's a list I compiled this morning:

APY
Amex: 4.35
Sofi: 4.6, $300 bonus direct deposit
Synchrony: 4.75
Wealthfront: 5.00 (get .5 bonus for 3 months if you refer a friend)
Citbank: 5.05 (5k minimum deposit)
Texas capital: 5.1
Everbank: 5.15
Ufb direct: 5.25
Western alliance: 5.36

For 100k you would earn $5,360 per year at Western versus $4,350 + 1500 = $5,850 with the Capital One deal. If you have less than 100k to invest the other options are better.

Directly from the footnotes of the main offer page I linked in my OP:

If you have or had an open
  • 360 Performance Savings
  • 360 Savings
  • 360 Money Market
  • Savings Now
  • or Confidence Savings account

as a primary or secondary account holder with Capital One on or after January 1, 2022, you will be ineligible for the bonus.
I'd assume if you or your kid (assuming under 18) are named on any of those pre-existing, or new 360 Savings account we're talking about here, as the primary or secondary name on the account, then NO they will not pay you the bonus for this offer.

If I deposit 100k but need to move out 50 within the 90 day period, can I still qualify for the 50k bonus after the 90 days?

Put money in this for minimum possible time (just to get bonus) and then move your money to better rate.

$100k @ 4.35% for 5 months (say max time to get bonus) = $1800 + $1500 sign up bonus = $3300 in 5 months

$3300/$100k x 12 / 5 = 7.9% APY

So you get about 8% fixed / safe return for 5 months deposit, and it is proportionally tiered.. so invest 20k, 50k or 100k for the same APY.

Read the OP. Gave examples for scenario like this. Money you want the bonus to reflect must be in the account daily from days 14-105 of account opening.
Ok. Just wanted to make sure because I'm dyslexic. So this is the same as the account opening bonuses at other banks like Chase and Wells Fargo. Put money in within a certain number of days, keep it in for 90 days and then you get the bonus.

Yeah, USFR is yielding north of 5.2% on cash. something like 5.6-5.7% trailing year returns.

I tried putting 5k to open a CapOne back in Dec, then fund to at least the 20k level for the bonus, but they couldn't link to TDA despite multiple attempts. If it's that hard to get money in I don't want to find out how difficult it is to get it out.

4.35% is so low, and your money is essentially locked in the account for months or you'll lose your bonus if you move it.

How are some people missing the fact that you get the extra bonus on top of the APY? Comparing this directly to another banks' APY numbers without factoring in the bonus is foolish AF. I guess if you can't figure that part out, this "deal" isn't for you...

Ok -- let's say you do hold it there for threshold and the interest rate doesn't change:

$20k -> with monthly compounded interest becomes 20,218
Add the $300 bonus -- 20,518.
Growth rate of 2.59% for 3 months -- since most people are comparing APY -- you would multiply this by 4 -- over 10% APY (again if you held it for the minimum bonus period)

$20k with 5% interest -- $20,251 -- growth rate for 3 months - 1.25%

Pretty good deal IMO -- I did this last fall. I might open one for my wife.
how long did it take to get the bonus after required amount deposited? my Chase private client bonus took < 90 days last year, I'm thinking about moving to capital one. thanks in advance?

I opened my account on 12/6. I moved the funds on 3/22 (108th day -- 15 funding + 90 holding = 105). Then I received the bonus on 3/26 (112th day)

I have a CapOne checking account. I wrote a $20k check to my wife, took a couple days to clear, but better than meager transfer limits.

Yes, and see this recent post that might help illustrate the same.

Assume whatever day you open account is day 1.

By day 7 make sure whatever funds you want in the account are either already there, or on their way into the account, so it's definitely all there by day 14.

Day 15-105 (a 90 day period) is what Cap1 will use to judge what bonus you'll receive. If you transferred $100,001, and then withdrew $2 before day 106, you're no longer getting the $1500 bonus.

Day 106 you should be free to do whatever you want with the money, but you've been patient enough by then that I'd recommend leaving the money in a few more days, just in case Cap1 wants to try playing games with their T&Cs.

Day 165 or sooner (within the next 60 day period) you will then get your bonus back in the account, and reflected on a 1099-INT for your 2025 taxes.

American schools don't teach personal finance or any type of math that would be used in this calculation. And if they did attend one that did, it's clear they didn't pay any attention.

It's why "Financial Advisors" make so much money every year off people. And why people earn 0.01% interest at their MEGA bank. LMAO
