Do an internet search on "Dell 5411 Overheating" and you'll see why it was so problematic putting an "H" chip in a chassis designed for "U" chips. Also, the internal cooling architecture was also designed for "U" chips. Dell made a mistake saving design costs by dropping in a hot CPU chip into an existing model meant for cool low-energy chips. This was a short-life model and 6-9 months later they replaced it with another model better designed for "H" chips. They got so many bulk returns from large corporates on this model.

So, major fan noise -OR- significantly downgraded chip speed. Accept one or the other and that's made 5411 owners very upset. It was never a simple driver fix.

Lastly, used computers purchased from FedEx Recycling are significantly YMMV. You could get one of my two deliveries which looked very used (missing paint, scratches, etc.).

When you buy used for large govt/corporate customers, you're likely not getting something personally cared for by one individual. Old + well used + tiny warranty, is not the same as Modern + unused + 1 year (or doubled with cc).

I have one and the bigger problem is battery life. However all those faults are apply more to the full priced, brand new originals. When you can get grade A condition with a very capable CPU, 16GB ram and 1080p screen in a nice compact package for $200 thats a lot of bang for your buck.

Interesting to see the low res 768p screen ones are all inbetter condition - maybe they always stayed closed and plugged in the dock, because that resolution is useless in 21st?

I got one from them that said Recycled by FedEx. So FedEx also has a recycling old PCs business besides delivering packages?

Dell Refurbished has been hit or miss with me. Last one I got looked brand new, but one before that was in HORRIBLE condition, even though it was a "B". Scratches, the screen was de-laminating, etc ... Should never have been sent out. Little scratches I can understand, but this looked like it fell off the roof of a car.

From what I understand FedEx purchased the dellrefubished site, which is why all the laptops and PC have the sticker. It's import to note these laptop/ pcs are off lease from corporate clients which means all of these system are between 3-5 years old. If you are looking for something newer with official support purchase directly from dell.com look for the deals page and find the dell certified refurbished.
I have purchased from this site (dellrefurbished) and had a very positive experience, but if you check the comments of other Slickdeal post, many others have not. If you are tech savvy there are many good deals to be had, but caveat emptor there is just as much e-waste being sold on this site.

I mostly use it plugged in but get like 4hrs of normal productivity tasks. I havent done any optimization though or even played with the brightness.

That said i actually quite like it. Its compact and reasonably powerful and has a good ports selection. Its also very easy to open up to service. 2x ram slots with nothing soldered is nice.

4 hours of normal productivity tasks is a pretty great battery in my opinion

2 years back in Feb2022, i got one of 7480 14in from dell ref,
It was B grade but when I received it, it almost looked new ,
I am still using daily 8 hours for my work 2-3 hrs for personal use and it running fine without any issues.
I modified registry to installed win11 and its working great.
After 2 years battery is down to 75%.
Price I paid was only 160$.
Dell's business line built solid.
