It's a great place and I love going there. Sorry you've had a bad experience. That said, not even close to burning. It's a profitable company with no debt.
This was an awesome deal. Took advantage of trading in 7 Switch games, getting $211 in trade in, $50+ over Pricecharting/eBay. Found a store with a 64 GB Steam Deck, was able to stack the $25 off $250, $5 Pro coupon, Pro discount, and came away with a Steam Deck for $41 out of pocket after tax - perfect!
GameStop is a big business like any other and they have some icky business practices like any other big business. I've heard they treat their employees like crap, and the sticker price on a lot of used games is quite absurd. I was browsing yesterday and saw they were selling a used copy of Jedi Fallen Order on PS5 for $35, when it costs $22.73 new on Amazon. Between that and the ways they've nerfed the Pro membership and the myriad other little things, it's not hard to understand why some people don't like them.
But I personally still value their trade-in system, especially when they run promos like this one. Outside of trying your luck bartering with people on places like OfferUp and FB Marketplace, there's really nowhere else you can trade your played games to get new ones at low or no cost.
Over the past couple days I spent a few hours scouring FB marketplace for people who were selling games with a high trade value at GameStop, traded with them for stuff I didn't need anymore (not just games), and pretty easily racked up over $400 in trade credit after bringing them to GameStop. I even got a couple duplicates of high-value games and just had my girlfriend trade them in. I fully paid off a Stellar Blade pre-order, bought used copies of a couple newish games I've been wanting to play (Unicorn Overlord, Star Ocean the Second Story), and still had about $250 in credit after. I could buy a PS Portal and still have credit left over, and I didn't spend a single dollar.
Granted that's a very specific case where I had to find random people to parlay with to end up getting all that credit, and it took a bit of back and forth, and driving around. But my point is there's nowhere else I would have been able to do that besides GameStop. So I appreciate that they're still around, doing stuff like this. It also goes to show why physical will always be superior to digital, because you have equity in your games.
Irrational hate? We are literally just giving first hand accounts of our experiences at the store lol
or just spamming hate on them for no reason. I would say the same for Walmart tbh.
horrible experience treats their people like crap.
same with Amazon they treat their people like crap.
TESLA met some workers yep said the same crap.
treats them like crap.
Corporations in general are not loyal even apple.
same old same old.
you are only a number to them. disposable.
this is also heavily vs banks treating their people like crap hence the massive layoff.
tech layoff bank layoff etc for cutting costs. SEEMS GAMESTOP only followed what they did. but only blaming them? yes irrational.
why should they die on the sword so that TBTF can cut layoff etc to survive while gamestop is forbidden from surviving? seems irrational and forced.
yes we know you shorted you want them dead. obvious.
perhaps consider closing out your position when still ahead. they ain't going the way of popcorn or towel. I'm sure you realize this. writing is on the wall.
Slickdeals users maybe not the owners - HF, likes GameStop deals because they are now decent even compared to Amazon.
anyway stop and start being rational. no need to destroy a company being better and better. also new thing their credit card is very good.
get the credit card its basically free membership for life.
and points never expire.
seems like a no brainier tyvm.
I use the points as quickly as I get them rather than banking them and hoping they don't have some sort of weird glitch or decide to change the rules (again) and retroactively expire the ones I have.
As for the credit card I already have the Sony card and that's a straight Visa card compared with the Gamestop one that I believe is just for buying crap from them. If it included promotions like Target's Circle had where if you spend $x you get $y back in their funny money then it might be worthwhile for those instances. But if it's just the $25 Pro membership as a "benefit" then that's kinda laughable.

traded in FF16 and Pokemon violet for $65 credit, paid $10 on top for FF7 rebirth. not bad at all considering i spent a total of $75 originally for FF16 and pokemon
I got FF 7 rebirth for 50 yesterday and didn't have to trade anything or go to crappy gamestop. 😂

And yet your love a company who treats it's employees like garbage and rip consumers off. Genius over here.
Rip you off? Who is forcing you to sell your games at prices that are a ripoff?
I know what I can get for my games, if its too low, then I won't sell. I love that I was able to get almost $400 for my launch PS5 and get a slim with that credit. I don't love the company, but I do like that I was able to get that and take advantage of their pro deals like last week they had an offer to get 50% extra credit. Look up the post, plenty of people were happy with that.
Like I said, I don't have a ton of love for the company, but I'll always go to a store that still supports physical games and offers me some decent values for my hardware/games. Not my fault some people are too dumb to seek out these promos or think they should get what they paid back for last year's Madden games.
Its like it makes you mad that I got a good deal on my stuff. So weird, but whatever haha. Stay salty.
