Wisteria. Only put it where you want it to take over everything and tear down your trees, siding, etc.
Chinese and Japanese wisteria are invasive and extremely aggressive. Most people have problems keeping them under control. American wisteria (Wisteria frutescens) is supposed to be fine. Look for Blue Moon, Amethyst Falls, or other American varieties.

Their website has growing info for all their plants, with what zones the plant can live in and all that jazz.

I'm in zone 6 and wisteria never bloomed. Been 7 or so years. It makes leaves then dies in the winter. Makes leaves by summer, dies in the winter. No flowers. Zone 4 my arse.

Yeah. I think there is an American version that isn't as bad. Chinese version is a no go... sadly.

Correct. I have American version and easy to contain. Unfortunately the Asian varieties are fragrant whereas the American has little to no fragrance.

Purple wisteria is growing everywhere around my area. Wish I could sell it for $30 a plant.

I got mine to bloom by root pruning with a shovel however it also creates babies all over.
