the wyze cam v4 is just came out which is 2.5k and is $35. it also supports newer wifi standards afaik.

I'm not sure which is worth saving or spending the $5 tbh.

The V4 still only has 2.4ghz but now supports ax. That might help some people, but only if their router is ax compliant. Doubt this will change any time soon, people already have enough trouble getting 2.4 to connect, just imagine if 5ghz was in the mix too.

A good router makes all the difference. So many people out there with a $20 Walmart router, or their ISP router, leave negative reviews about connection issues.

From the reviews I have seen, other than ax the V3 Pro and V4 are almost the same. V4 is certified to handle a larger SD card, but Wyze cams have always worked with larger SD cards as long as they are formatted exFAT. App interface is same on the V3 Pro and V4 as well, with the "upgraded" interface over the standard V3. V3 Pro does NOT have a pigtail connector, the V4 does.

I almost bought a V3 Pro 2 days ago for $45, glad to see this sale. Haven't found any accessories that say they work with the V4 (link a window mount) so I'm hesitant to pick one up yet... plus I want to see some reviews over time.

Routers - I can't recall one that didn't have significant numbers of negative reviews, even at the (especially at the?) $200+ level. I suspect part of the issue is that there are so many aspects to router satisfaction that it's difficult to find one that handles every use case well.

V4 vs. V3 Pro - supposedly audio is one area that's significantly improved in V4 - thought not sure it's *that* much better, from the one or two reviews I watched.

Accessories - it appears the V4 works with the lamp socket, per the video review I watched.

Agreed on routers. I work in networking and used to use more commercial stuff at home (Mostly Ubiquiti), but it became a PITA to maintain for home use. Asus is who I will always recommend to people these days. The GT-AX6000, TUF-AX6000 and RT-AX88u Pro. All are effectively the same routers but with different designs with different UI's, but almost the same hardware. These would meet the needs of 95% of people out there and are simple 2.4/5ghz dual band models.

They list high, but are on Amazon new/used for about $150-200 and go on sale a lot. I don't buy Asus products any more, but make an exception for their routers because they are just the best on the consumer market for the last few years.

i run ubiquity at home. its overkill, sure, but i never worry about the network being a potential issue. that is, as long as the cloudkey server is running lol.

Touch choice between this and new v4. Picture is probably about same, but I wonder about audio.

Wyze v4 will force person detection under CAM plus and no longer included for free or cam lite subscription.
