The Boston 12 is a big change from previous versions. If you paid $45 a year ago, it was almost probably for a Boston 11 or earlier which is basically a totally different shoe.

These probably aren't what you're looking for. The design pretty specifically to be running trainers.

Certainly, they would be comfortable, but there are probably better options

Read some comments on Adidas' website. While good shoes, they are very firm. They take many miles to break in, and even then they are still pretty firm soles

Not accurate in my experience. They were soft right out of the box and required no break in time.

I use the Boston 12 for long runs since they're well cushioned but the softest cushion is towards the front so it kind of makes you push forward. Between that and the fiberglass energy rods, I'd say it'd be comfortable but slightly awkward for standing/walking. And the upper is completely mesh so not really comfortable for anything besides a run. There are better, cushier, more supportive shoes for walking/standing.

But it's my favorite shoe to train in. Outsole with the continental rubber is durable and looks brand new after almost 100 miles. I like this color way a lot and I'd get this if I didn't have another pair in the box from the last REI sale

Agreed. This is my favorite all around shoe. I use it for speed work, long easy runs (20+ miles), and even the occasional race. Planning on wearing them for my first 50k in a few weeks.

No break in period for me. They're not soft like running on pillows, but the lightstrike pro foam with the rods is excellent. It's not meant to be a recovery trainer.

This will be my fourth pair, thanks OP!

Amazing shoes and a really good price. These aren't your pillowy soft Hoka-like shoes, rather a snappy, fast daily trainer for 1/2 marathons and long runs. They are light, propel you forward, and you don't get that mushy feeling like some shoes.

They aren't for everyone but if you like this style of shoe, it frequently is top rated in its category.

And it's cheap!

Firmness can vary a lot based on your body weight and foot strike. A firm shoe for one person is a cushy shoe for another. If you're not familiar with running shoes, do yourself a favor and go to a specialty running shoe store to get fitted.

Adizero Boston are my favorite shoes, but they shine at faster paces. I wouldn't recommend them for walking though.

I bought Aidzero Boston about 1y ago for about ~$45 on ad SD deal. On a scale 0-10 I would overall rate Adizero Boston at about 3-4.

They look nice, but are stiff, plasticky, hard to get you feet in, but once in the fit is OK. The sole feels very hard and offers almost no cushioning. I have quite a few different running shoes that I rotate and Adi Zero very quickly were relegated to the bottom of the heap. If I could I was avoiding them. After I put about 120miles the sole was worn and felt like running in flip-flops. Unfortunately, I had to get rid of them early, they went to landfill.

I would not buy Adizero Boston even if they were on sale for $20, not worth frustration and extra stress on feet and knees. If one wants to try Adidas shoes, I can recommend Ultraboost (rating 9/10), quality shoes with best sole, though still have issues of stiff upper and getting your feet inside, so watch your fit.
