I've got to say that this reeks of bullshit. They are selling licenses to list yourself as TOP TIERâ„¢, so the study is riddled with bias. I just read through the study, and while intake valves showed significantly less deposits, most other areas of the engine did not. The study was over 100 hours with undoubtedly favorable conditions to get the results desired, so attempting to draw any conclusions about what any of this means for long term reliability is not possible. It might be worth considering if someone owns a car from the decade or so of poorly designed direct injected engines that are prone to deposits, but if someone decided to drive 10 miles out of the way to get TOP TIERâ„¢, they are playing a fool's game. If it is already at your Costco, why not? Personally, I'm very comfortable that Sam's doesn't choose to engage in this money grab to license their product as TOP TIERâ„¢, since not being TOP TIERâ„¢ does not mean you have less detergents.
You have to use critical thinking in these things. If adding a little more detergent really added 4% to fuel efficiency and simultaneously decreased emissions, there's no damned way the EPA wouldn't increase the minimum fuel requirements. The truth is that most fuel in the nation would qualify for TOP TIERâ„¢ if they decided to pay TOP TIERâ„¢ for the privelege of branding that way.
Top tier fuel is a badge companies pay for, similar to good housekeeping & to jd power for more validity. Just because a company doesn't opt for the top tier badge, it doesn't mean it isn't good gas.
This $20 deal is ok if you actually go to a Sam's location but for me I need a plus membership as I live 60 miles from a Sam's so I have to get items shipped and with a plus membership it's free
I just start opening costco app on my phone while coming in and wave it to them. You can also use an old membership card. Everything is justified when the $1.50 hotdog is on a line 😆
Costco gas station = full of cars. Sam's club gas station = few cars.
I can give you the peer reviewed study if you want.
I know some people don't care what brand of gas they put in their car or use the cheapest regular gas in town. Costco gas is a top quality gas than unlike Walmart. It's like Shell or Exxon. That's if you believe that gas aren't all equal.

I've used these deals every year for the last five years. Whenever my year is up, I change my phone number to just some junk number, change my email to a disposable email like 10min mail, and remove my address.
Sign up for the new membership with may actual info and I'm good to go for the next year.
Thanks, they're really strict now, having just a different name and email not enough, I needed to use a different address and phone number!
I discovered their Bare chicken strips there. They are the best and great to eat alone or in salads. They are hard to find elsewhere for a decent price. Sam's regular price is so much less than a couple of grocery stores that carry it in my area.
Same here, the "Bare" brand of chicken nuggets/strips are great! I've had many similar chicken nuggets in the past, these are the best I've ever tasted. I don't know what's in them that makes them taste so good, but we tried the sample in the club one day and were hooked. We've bought several packages already, they're on sale often making them even better. I recommend them to anyone that wants a great tasting nugget. I don't often rave about frozen food, but this is an exception.
I know Costco does not need the membership for food. Not sure about Sam's Club I'm also curious.

Nope. Anyone should be able to buy food at Costco and Sam's club's food court and stop at customer service desk without membership.
Sounds like Costco allowing that is coming to an end. Reports of signs popping up in warehouses "Effective April 8, 2024, an active Costco membership card will be required to purchase items from our food court. You can join today. Please see our membership counter for details,"
