There's a pattern with Tesla threads here. I don't care if you all wanna discuss the deal or the cars but it always turns into paaaages and paaaages of bickering back and forth and nobody ,except for the few involved, enjoy that or wanna wade through that. So cut that stuff out, please and thank you.
FYI just because it says "New" doesn't mean it qualifies for the 7500 tax credit. Demo models are new but do not qualify for 7500. If the specific inventory item qualifies it will directly say it on the site.

I was lucky to get an inventory MY long range for 45440 back in September last year. It was produced two weeks earlier with less than 20 miles. -500 referral bonus -7500 tax credit -2500 Texas incentive, the total 45440-500-7500-2500=34940 plus charge cable, delivery charge, tax and doc fee.
Tried FSD for 5 days, IMO Tesla should pay me to test FSD for them, what a joke. I salute to Tesla fans to pay tens of thousands of dollars to test for Tesla, real cult. Sorry offending if you are, I bought a new X/. But my comment is based on my unbiased opinion.
Right now, I feel like they are getting free testing out of us.
And who will spending $12000 on this really benefit in the long run?
I can see it benefiting someone that is inebriated, if they were going to drive regardless. Otherwise, it's really benefitting other drivers.
I trust myself to drive. I don't trust all other drivers. We will get to the point where I trust FSD over other drivers much much sooner than I trust FSD over my own driving.

I have FSD, purchased it in full and love it. Use it almost daily to make my commute more manageable. Currently on v11, can't imagine how much better v12 can get.
Are you normally a drunk driver? Or a new driver? How does it make a commute more manageable?
Driving doesn't require much energy at all. In fact, FSD currently requires much more energy and effort than driving without it.
Right now it's a really cool toy, but it benefits you when you are driving when you shouldn't be driving.
I am not eligible for $7500 credit, can I ask someone else to buy this for me and then they transfers to me. Are there any constraints or limitations that I should be aware of ?

I am sure you will have to pay tax again, even as gift they tax you. ChatGPT:

In the United States, for example, if you receive a car as a gift, you may need to pay taxes on it if the value of the car exceeds the annual gift tax exclusion amount set by the IRS. However, there are exceptions and exclusions, such as gifts between spouses or gifts below a certain value threshold.
Also nice way to get IRS on your back

It is not a straight up discount, you still have to file for it and qualify come tax time. There are still income limits.
Right about the income limit, and I am sure some form needs to be filed during 2024 retrun, but now the 7500 credit is Point of Sale, so its still kind of discount from Uncle Sam, if your income qualify

Also do not forget to book car through someone referral.
3 months of FSD also everybody getting 1 month free, so 4 months.
March they had good stuff, 2000 miles of supercharging and 1 year Premium connectivity along with FSD
I got my car in Dec, got 6 months super charging along with FSD
Feel free to DM me if you need more info/review. It's my first EV.
Edit: adding more info, keep checking inventory regularly, Tesla do reverse of auctioning on the inventory, they keep reducing price till car is bought. There are few discord channel that can send you notifications when new inventory is added.
Edit2: Removing term referral from my DM comment, as it might violate SD rules
Buy a long range Model Y out the door for ~$42K (I assume 7% tax). Hold for 8 years (length of warranty) and sell for ~$12K. Average monthly depreciation is $312/month. Add some buffer for maintenance and total cost of ownership is about $340/
Is leasing cheaper than $340/month?
I ran the numbers on Teslas site and leasing the same car is $524/month plus maintenance. Ok, we don't account for the time cost of money, but we also don't account for the fact that lease costs will increase every 36 months.
The minimum for the MYLR that I can see in inventory is 45k after 5k off. With order and destinations fees and taxes, would come to almost 52k. If you take off federal tax credit, it's about 45k.
Yeah. Well, all cars have some miles on them when new - usually like 10 or so. I got a rental a couple months ago that had just over 6 on the dial.
But 2500 is a far cry from 10
New has a specific definition based on title ownership. If a car was owned by someone else other than the dealer then it is not new. Saying anything else is misadvertising which Tesla is famous for obviously. Afaik even cars used for loaners have a different ownership and can't be sold as new.
