I bought one last time it was posted. Love it, but the bigsby is a pain unless you install locking tuners, one of those string plates for it, and a rolling TOM bridge. Overall pretty cheap and easy mods to make than guitar play amazing

It probably needs a proper set up which is common for guitars in this price range.

I also got it last time it was on sale and it hasn't really been an issue with the tuning. Im guessing it's ymmv but I honestly haven't perceived the tuning issue. Full disclosure, I'm not heavy handed when using the bigsby.

I ordered one last time. There was a lot of buzzing on 1st and 2nd frets. Sent it back for a replacement, which came today. Replacement has same issue.

For 48hrs I've been down the craiglist/fb market/reverb rabbit hole looking for a Gretsch. Not sure what compelled me to search here for one -- figured there'd be maybe 0.1% chance anything would come up, but jeez I'm glad I did! definitely compromised on the color, but looks like I can probably sell it for what I paid if I ever want to switch it up. thanks!

I've never played a guitar with this kind of tremolo/vibrato arm. Does it get in the way of palm muting the strings?

Bigsby tuning problems are common on any guitar, even high dollar guitars of any brand. Tips to fix without spending lots of money. String it on top of the roller instead of underneath, and push a little pencil graphite into the nut and bridge slots. Replace the spring with a Reverend Soft Spring ($10). Just those 3 things can fix 90-100% of tuning issues on a Bigsby! Good luck!

I bought the hardtail larger 2622 version and initially had some issues with tuning stability after bends - it went on longer than the typical new string break-in period. The pencil graphite trick helped but it still dogged it for a while. With a lot more play, especially working it out with lots of aggressive bends, it has tightened up.

I really love the guitar overall, it's become my go-to. Top value for money, plays extremely well, fit and finish are great too.

Another tip for the bigsby: You can remove the spring, put it on the floor, and compress/decompress it with your foot for several minutes. Then put it back in and tuning stability should be better.

Also right below the bigsby spring is a big plastic washer, it's recommended to replace it with a penny. The slot is perfectly sized for a penny. Replacing the tuners for locking tuners is also worthwhile. And finally, my bridge buzzed like crazy so that might need to be replaced as well. A roller bridge is a good choice.

No, the bridge is the same as hardtail guitars such as a LP and the trem is pretty far away from the bridge, won't get in the way.

Also take the spring out from under the bar and step on it like 50x. That will break it in and make the spring much more stable.
