FYI: Target also selling at $21 and you can get the VIP points. Side benefit is the risk of getting scavenged packs with random pieces instead of figures is probably much lower than purchasing through Amazon.

Exactly what it sounds like. People buying packs to replace a lost item and returning the rest of the pack….

I've gotten tired of getting dupes when buying from retail stores. Bought whole set from eBay instead. Love this set.

You can scan QR code on the box to know what's inside. Maybe people just return it if it doesn't include the minifigures they want.

These are mystery packs. People buy a bunch of packs, open them up and get what they want and then return the rest. I don't know if they still do the plastic bags or not, but in the store my kids would feel the plastic packs to figure out what set was in there. They got pretty good at it. Then they would buy the ones they wanted without having to waste their money on minifigs they didn't want. Almost every box I've seen in store has been opened.

If you are looking for something specific, it's better just to just buy whatever you want from eBay instead of rolling the dice.

Not quite...as others have pointed out, these are blind boxes. They're reselling returns that have been opened, the figures / accessories have been removed, and sent back with random pieces in their place. Original buyer gets a refund and keeps the figures...Amazon resells as if they're new product. Could also be from a third party sold through Amazon. In any case, quite a few people receiving junk orders.

Lego stopped plastic mini fig bags a couple series ago. It is unfortunate because they are still using slightly larger plastic bags for other sets on end caps/check out. The idea was sustainability. I fully support the idea, but the implementation is hilariously awful. We just got the cherry blossoms - like 6 bags inside a cardboard box. Why not two bags, one for each? Or one larger bag? It isn't like the set has an overwhelming number of pieces.

To the person mentioning QR codes - there is a site that better explains this. Essentially there is a manufacturing plant in Europe for Europe and another in Mexico for NA. The Europe one has a larger QR code - those have been cracked. The smaller, Mexico ones are not fully cracked. There is a huge spreadsheet tracking everything, but you may or may not get one that is known. Some are pretty well split between two possibilities. Not as effective as feeling, but at least a little better.

I will also second the person mentioning eBay. We had tried the weighing method with two. Neither was what was expected. Found someone on Facebook selling the complete and opened set of Marvel Series 2 for cost. We like this one, but not worth the hassle of returned items or unknown boxes.

There's an app now you can scan the barcode and it tells you what figure is inside; seems to be relatively accurate (Brick search) https://linktr.ee/brick.search

Nothing more pathetic than seeing a grown up with a pocket scale and a camera in the toy aisle desperately searching for your desired figures. Now you can do that with an app!
