i paid $375 for this at acme last month. it was $550. there was a $100 off coupon (dewalt 100 year anniversary promotion). on top of that, there was a $75 cashback offer on this item. that promotion was available for the entire month of march.
lol you're referring to the 8.25" DWE7485. The 7491RS has never been $375

Don't know about this particular saw or the deal on it but table saws that are under 800$ may be a thing of the past after the government mandates every saw come with saw stop technology. Seriously a thing coming soon in the USA Google it
Yeah it's unbelievable. Seriously, at what point can people make their own decisions on what they want vs the government having to tell them. I'm willing to bet the one guy on the consumer safety board who is smittin to put this regulation into effect has never used a tool (much less saw) in his life.

Why do you think prices would go above $800? The mechanism or technology for the conductive automatic braking is not expensive . You have to remember we live in a free trade market where there is plenty of competition. The technology will be the norm, but this doesn't mean all saws will be >$800. As someone who works at a tech company manufacturing consumer electronics, I have no idea where people are getting this notion from.
How do you know how much it'll cost? Regardless, It's not that simple. In order for a table saw to stop a rotating blade instantly, the table saw has to be large and solid enough to handle the force repeatedly without breaking. The smallest sawstop job saw is a solid 20-30% heavier.

there were a ton posts about the dewalt 100 year promo at acme. similar to the current "buy more save more" Milwaukee promo going on right now, but almost everything was eligible for the $100 off $500. all the table saws, all flexvolt tools, etc. only some batteries were excluded from the promo.

if this you coping? it was this exact tool. it's currently $550 at acme. the $100 off $500 promo applied to it, making it $450. and there was a $75 cashback offer on it from a site i'm not allowed to mention here because it competes with SD. final price was $375 + tax

How does this stack up against Bosch's similar model saw?

Meh, it's a good deal but I don't have Dewalt batteries and don't want yet another battery system, or to have to rely upon batteries for a table saw at all. Bought the DWE7485WS on Amazon for $349 w/stand, plus 5% back from the Prime Rewards Visa. It's corded and only 8", but I have a much larger table saw in the garage and just want this for work around the house.

Edit: My bad. A battery is NOT required. I went ahead and ordered this one after all and canceled the Amazon order. I do like the 10" blade, but even more so the rolling stand.

Anyone know how this compares to the DW745?
This is better. Bigger capacity, takes dado stack. Dw745 does not.

Last checked, Bosch made a saw and saw stop sued them and won and Bosch had to stop selling it due to patents..

So if the patent is still valid, sawstop is either going to license it out, or crank up the price of their monopoly..

SawStop has agreed to give the base patent away for free if the Commission decides to pass the law.

Sorry I didn't explain more but my understanding in order to have a saw blade spinning at such a high speed stop in a fraction of a second every part from the frame to table basically the structure of the saw will need to be built so strong to be able to handle the inertia forces. Sorry for run on sentence haha. Basically if you put the saw stop tech into a 149$ table saw the stopping of the blade so fast could explode the saw making it more dangerous. But this is just what I was told and it seemed to make sense. If you have ever been around a professional grade table saw you can tell how robust they are. The cheapest saw stop brand table saw is likely very beefy. Hope this makes sense. I'm with you hopefully the competition can drive down problem is that many of the cheaper manufacturers may just not bother putting in the research and development and just not make them anymore
