Don't know how useful this is over a regular nail claw, but for $5 it's worth a try. The nail claws always seem to go missing when you need it anyway.

You don't know what you're missing. Once you tie up the claw on the hammer, you've got no hammer. Using claw tools like this frees up the hammer for hammering.

I was thinking the same thing and then I read the reviews. Seems like most of the reviews are part of the seed program so not really trustworthy.

you have to break the wood surface to take out the nail.

There is one decent review on YouTube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZuCGmJCnQU

I picked one of these up the other day and actually just tried it today. It does work really well, and has zero issues with getting really long nails out even after the nail head is high out of reach from the claw.

For 5 bucks it is a no brainer IMHO.

Looks like a home invasion tool. I'm no contractor but I can usually get nails out with a claw hammer and some effort.

Looking at HD reviews, it's been this price for a while.

I've had one of these for about 2 decades. One of the most useful tools you can have but it's very specific. I'm usually reaching for this thing when I'm taking apart base boards or coping and trying to do minimal damage. This is far superior to a claw hammer when you're working in a small area or trying to preserve the piece of wood you're working on or just can't get the proper leverage over a claw hammer.

I bought one of these last summer, for this price, or maybe closer to $7. Just on a whim really. It came in real handy when I redid my deck. Ripped out old rusty screws no problem.

If you hammer nails in, eventually you'll need a cat's paw to remove some. This looks like a useful variation. Thanks for posting it up, OP!

The nail rocker aspect of this looks useful to me. When working on my deck I routinely encounter nails whose head is weakened by rust and pulls off. I use a method similar to rocking the nail with the claw my hammer, but this methods appear easier and quicker... especially since the hammer method requires a sharp claw to grip the shank of the nail. For $5 it is definitely worth it just for my deck.

I saw a video demo where they use the nail rocker to remove nails from trim from the back side of the wood. This looks good for use when removing and reinstalling trim.

The cat's paw is just a bonus..
