Didn't they have 16:10 displays in the previous generation? If so, I'm surprised they moved back to a 16:9 display in the latest model. Hard to go back to 16:9 after getting used to the increased vertical screen real estate that 16:10 displays offer.

Is the listed screen spec wrong? Every review I've seen of the 2024 model has a 16:10, 2.8K (2880 x 1800) 120hz OLED display.

It's funny, their own website doesn't list the screen resolution. At least I couldn't find it in the tech specs. So stupid.

https://rog.asus.com/us/laptops/r...2024/spec/

Edit: Wow, the display resolution is nowhere to be found even on the display section. They just list it as a "3K" display. Unbelievable.

The laptop is 16:10. Best Buy is just abysmally terrible when it comes to specification accuracy.

That open box excellent for $1273 is pretty solid. Main issue with the laptop is that the RAM is soldered. Other than that, it is thinner than a MacBook pro, has great battery life, and is currently the only laptop with a gsync oled display.

Not sure why this deal is getting downvotes. It's legitimately $150 off, and the new G14 has only been out about a month. It's not a scam, there's no sign-up "gotcha" or any prerequisite actions to obtain the deal.

If you don't like the direction that Asus is taking the Zephyrus, go complain on a tech forum. If you don't like the soldered ram (neither do I), go complain on a tech forum.

This is a website for helping others who actually want to find a deal on the things they want, to get the best deal possible. I saw that BB had $150 off on the G14 so I was excited to move on over to Slickdeals to share the news with everyone if it wasn't shared already. It's just disappointing seeing this post become buried under other posts for no reason other than downvotes from, presumably, people who do not like this laptop, and not because this deal is bad. Shame.

Totally agree, I have a bit of buyers remorse now that I see this great deal on the latest model, as I took advantage of the 2022 deal one, but I'm happy and hope some peeps enjoy this deal and get the latest zephyrus because this line it's incredible from Asus even with the recent changes.

The soldered ram thing seems to be a thing where everyone is going sadly.

What do people think about this one vs. the Legion Slim competitor? Is it worth the extra couple hundred for g-helper, thunderbolt ports and the perceived case quality? I've been watching reviews, and it seems the two are neck and neck (in the 4060 form factor).

It's not terrible but the $999 4060 from 2023 is a much better value and it's not even close. Better performance and it uses a standard 1440p res @ 165hz. But if you have to have the oled (it's amazing I'll admit) and don't want to wait for a better discount, well of course something is better than nothing.

I did order one but returned it. As a laptop, it's much better than the older models. It runs cooler outside of gaming and it just feels so much better. Gaming, it's worse. Not only is the 4060 held back but that display resolution is awkward. It's harder to run in all scenarios including DLSS unless you are ok with running a lower res for a blurrier image. I don't think a lot of people are considering this aspect of it.

I've long been a G14 user but personally the odd resolution is what's pushing me towards the G16 with its better res and refresh rate. Just wish it would go on sale too!

You guys are indeed correct. This review of the 4070 model of this states the display to be 2.8K 16:10 https://www.notebookcheck.net/Asu...772.0.html
I have updated the post. Thank you.
