The atmosphere is pretty creepy
There are environmental and biological distortions that are ghosty.
The weapons and combat were derived from people knowledgeable about both and the weapons are pretty accurate in an encyclopedic sense.
One thing I never forget is the sound the dying characters make.
I also learned that when you open a closet look down in case a soldier is kneeling and ready to shoot you.
I remember reading about a soldier who was killed that way for real.
Another curious thing is that the characters dont say much and there are no women.
If you're tired of silly battle Barbies this is the game for you.
The first STALKER is the best imo

Also, it is also really easy to setup you own layouts (takes a little time) and makes understanding how to customize official layouts or community ones a cinch once you get use to the basics. When you get the hang of this it can really open up the world of games that are not only playable in terms of software...but actually PLAYable in terms of enjoyment and interface. Note: Even with perfect layouts games with lots of inventory management can be a PITA without a legit mouse or native controller support though.
Very basic overview:

Source: I play plenty of older FPS and 3rd person PC games on the Steam Deck, most of which have zero native controller support or the controller support cannot be remapped. K&M controls emulated by the SD is the only real option.
*The Legion probably has a similar system built in but never tried so I cannot testify to this.
Should I play the base games first or dive straight into Anomaly?
