Zipair, a Japanese low-cost airline headquartered at NRT, wholly owned subsidiary of Japan Airlines, via Travelocity have round trip airfares travelling from San Jose CA (SJC) to Narita Tokyo (NRT) for $513 or from San Francisco (SFO) for $569, nonstop. You may earn ZIPAIR points or exchange JAL (Japan Air Lines) points. ZIPAIR has Boeing 787 Dreamliners in their fleet.
You are allowed a personal item that fits under the seat in front of you, weighing up to 15 lbs. And honestly, 15 lbs packs a lot if you leave your laptop at home. There is FREE wifi onboard throughout the entire flight. Some might say it never worked for them but it does, you'll have to scan the QR code on the back of the seat in front of you and then connect. In-flight food may be purchased in advance or onboard, based on availability....costs about $11 for a hot meal.
Travel Availability:
Departs SJC: April 14-15, 17-18, 20-22, 24-25, 27-29; May 1-2, 8-9, 12-13
Returns: April 17, 25, 29; May 1-2, 4-6, 8-9, 11-13, 15, 18-20, 22-23, 25-26, 29-30
Departs SFO: April 13-30; May 1-2, 7-9, 12-13
Returns: April 23-24; May 1-26, 28-31

With this program the fare of a child over 2-6 years old are cheap. However I am not sure of children 0-2 years old if they can be on a lap (infant lap) for them to be free.
Oh and btw, food and drinks are not inclusive on the trip. You have to pre-purchase it. If you decide to do it while on the plane chances are choices and amounts are limited. Worst case, no food for 10+ hours.
