Because SD thinks of them as "competition" and blocks us from posting links to it. Which just makes them look petty and stupid from my standpoint, as the two services complement each other far more than they compete. Half the user-posted deals on here probably came from their 3c alert messages.
I purchased this set last month in order to chase down a recent huge electric use jump which caused my electric bill to jump $200. These work for Refrigerators too. Definitely worth $10 each for the Energy consumption information that others don't have. Though not absolutely sure, I think I traced my problem to an unused bath fixture that had developed a slow hot water drip, causing the electric hot water heater to run a lot more…There is a glitch in setting these up in iOS - you set them up first through iOS HomeKit, then you can use the Kasa App. But at the end of setting up in HomeKit you get an error message. Just close the HomeKit and Kasa app and reopen. You can then complete the installation in the Kasa App.
Good Price, but I like the KP models better with MATTER..

With the exception of Energy monitoring, I'd prefer to smart switches where I can over smart plugs and smart bulbs. If you have the skill to install a smart switch safely, they are way more wife and family friendly than a plug. Smart Switches act like normal switches that your grandparents can use without downloading an app. Downside is you need an electrician or DYI skillset to do it safely.

That said, these are great for Christmas lights and seasonal declarations. I also use them for the few things that are not already controlled by a wall switch.

If you have a Sense home energy monitor be aware these might not work with your Sense. I've been going back and forth with their support and they finally amended their documentation to reflect this here:

https://blog.sense.com/smart-plug-integration

"Note that newer versions of the TP-Link Kasa EP25, hardware version 2.6, are not currently compatible with Sense."

Because both slickdeals and C3 are amazon affiliates. Slickdeals doesn't want C3 to steal the referral.

What does this mean, practically speaking?

Heads up, all. Amazon currently shows the 4-Pack Homekit Compatible Wi-Fi Smart Plug, 15A, Schedule, Timer, UL Certified (EP25P4) [amazon.com] for a few bucks cheaper than Tuesday at $37.61 - $5 coupon = $32.61

Is there similar switches with differently oriented plug pins. kind of 'tall' instead of 'wide' form factor. These do not fit nicely into cord extenders or UPS sockets (covering sockets to their side).

If you aren't trying to pair this with your Sense monitor it means nothing to you. Some people use these Kasa plugs to get more detailed energy usages stats in Sense.
