Decent price. Costco is selling the same system without the graphics card for $700 (they claim it's a $300 discount [costco.com]).

Literally on the page is the ability to upgrade the PSU for $50 - to a very good PSU. And add liquid cooling (that they use on the K series) for another $50.

Dells have issues, but the PSU and cooling problems you guys are mentioning are literal options you can change direct from Dell before you order - I don't even think you clicked the link.

I have Dell 8940

Which is just a version older than this one.

It was Covid time and 3060 Ti was hard to come by.,,

1. Please upgrade cpu cooler. If you have not bought the Dell yet. Upgrade to AIO water cooler
Dell cases is used to mount the cpu cooler. You can not install any cooler afterwards… only certain type that uses m6 screw type

Dell uses weird shape motherboard. If you buy this pc. You will not be able to change the computer case

2. This is smaller case, fan choices are limited

3. My 8940 did not come with any front air intake fan.

4, Dell was being cheap and did not install any VRAM heat sink. It was only $10… if you do not buy K version of cpu, Dell will skip the heat sink

With recent Micro center deals… I would build one my self If I'm looking for a pc today.
Which recent Micro Center deals are you referring to? Or just a general Micro Center pricing statement?

460 watt PSU is a joke
You can upgrade it to 1000 watt PSU for only 100.00 future proof if you want to upgrade the GPU later. I ordered one with these configuration. Ordered a 16gb ram stick from Amazon way cheaper than Dell. That will give me 32gb ram

While it's true that 32GB of RAM doesn't cost enough to justify it not being the standard these days (it's about a $20 difference for OEMs), the cost of the 512GB NVME does reflect the current price of mid to upper range drives right now.

I priced out a system with similar components and was already over $1000 even before adding a drive.

You can always add a 1TB drive and keep the 512 as a secondary.

It doesn't take much effort to clone drives these days, especially with how fast they are.
I agree with you I have a Samsung 990 pro 2 TB from last years prime day I pay about 100.00 I'll use this as primary and the smaller as a secondary drive and no cloning just do a windows hard install on new drive. That'll take care of Dell junk

So you can't take out this GPU and put it in another board???
Yes you can do it he's probably talking about all dell PC the only things you can't upgrade is the psu and board but you can ordered with a higher wattage psu ip to a 1000 watt for 100.00 more that's what I did for future proof

You can put any PCIe graphics card in this Dell XPS desktop that physically fits in the case and does not consume more power than the 460w power supply can create.

You can get a 750w or 1000W Dell specific power supply for this case from Dell or ebay ect....
https://www.dell.com/community/en...a8de1a393c

This video card can be taken out and put in any pc and it will work just fine. You can use the standard driver from Nvidia, The only difference is you get the graphic's card firmware BIOS update from Dell instead of another video card manufacturer (i.e. Asus,PNY,. MSI, Zotac, ect...)
Thank you!

Just a friendly reminder that the next tier card (4070) runs up to 200w while the 13700 alone can turbo up to 219w. Need to spend the $50 for the 750w PSU if you want a better GPU.

Had this model, poor cooling and I mean extremely poor cooling, the motherboard overheated.

Wouldn't buy, expect to use the warranty and extend it.

Had a dell g5 which shares many features of the xps series. These prebuilts have historically had poor vrms and airflow is terrible. I added several noctua fans and a custom cooler but it's hard to replace every component. Ram was low frequency, not many motherboard settings to play with. 13700 will run hot if pushed but for a casual user they may not notice the throttling. Psu is sufficient for these specs and to be honest that's the only good component in these other than their proprietary nature. At this price you can find several motherboard cpu combo deals and GPU prices aren't what they were and can get much better overall system. For some one looking for more casual approach levono legion series have better made prebuilts.

4060ti is almost on par with 3070.

Also have a G5 and did the same exact thing. You add the Vetroo CPU cooler as well? Mine runs 24/7 as a Plex server and seed box.
