Nah. Meets all major specifications for the newest engines. But have fun paying extra for the big brands so they can continue to bombard you with advertisements that make you buy their products and make you (wrongly) feel superior for having done so.

Basically forever. Well, much longer than the timeframe in which you'll use it, unless you plan on buying an entire warehouse full. Manufacturer's list different values, but they have an interest in putting a limit on a lifespan due to liability (CYA). Autozone says 8 years for synthetic, but again they have a vested interest in making you buy more oil.

I can't find any objective testing (e.g. test an oil every 2 years or something and see if the composition changes), but there are some anecdotes that very old oil (like 20+ years) can start to separate (usually heavy components in the bottom) and in that case to just shake it up.

Which leads me to what I wrote originally - don't buy enough oil for the next 20 years. I change oil in our vehicles combined maybe 5 times a year, so if I bought 10 jugs that would have me set for a couple years or so. That's enough that I'm comfortable knowing I'm saving some money, but not risking, for example, selling one of the cars in a year and the replacement uses a different grade of oil.
I heard the oil is fine, however the additives that are in the oil go bad rather 'quickly'. I have about 5 years worth of oil changes oil at home, I'm not getting rid of it.

Lots of people have gone to Costco for one item purchases. Speak for yourself and not others. However, that hasn't worked out very well for you.
No way especially for frequent usage.

"Oh im going to Costco just to get 1 dozen of eggs. And I will come back again in a day or 2 for other things."

Guess folks are just plainly different with different brain. Have at it.

Depends on how convenient it is. If you basically drive by one on your commute, why not stop there if you need something?

Exactly. Costco, like most vendors aren't a geographically one size fits all to every single shoppers.

You don't have to worry about shelf life, especially if you are changing oil every 6 months. The oil is perfectly fine sitting there.

Odd that the 4 takes so little of oil. The older V6 takes like 5.8 (going from memory) quarts which is a bit of a pain with the 5 qt jugs.

I don't know how the newer Toyota 4's are for durability but the 4 in the RAV up to 2011 (or 2012) was renowned for using an entire quart of oil between changes starting at about 150k miles. The V6 of that time frame is regarded for going 400k or more miles without developing oil usage issues. I have 270k on mine and it doesn't use any oil.
Read the manual again and sorry without filter it's 4.2, with filter change 4.7 qt!

I had a 2007 Camry (2az-fe) before the 2012 RAV4 (2ar-fe) and it needed a top up quart every month or so lol

Distance to store, time there and back. Some people don't value time more than a certain dollar amount, others do.

Does anyone know, this Costco synthetic oil is comparable to which one: Pennzoil Full Synthetic OR Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic?
Without going into details, both Kirkland and Pennzoil uses group IIl base stock. Mobil1 uses group IV/V base stock. If you don't drive a high performance car/truck, you will be fine with Kirkland or Pennzoil.
