Does anyone know how this [bhphotovideo.com]compares to alienware
No, it won't be outdated "very soon". A laptop 4090 is ~11% better on average (probably 15% at 4k) than a 4080 laptop. And this particular comparison, the 4090 link you gave costs at least 65% more.
So is it worth it to spend 65% more to get up to 15% better performance? Only you can answer that for yourself.

- No Win10 driver support (Wifi does not work)
-Screen flickering
-Awful basic BIOS, worse than Legion
-Annoying whiny fan that always runs even on silent mode
-Constant stuttering in games
-Fan control software sucks compared to Legion
-Dell driver software sucks
-BIOS update continually failed
I'm returning now. Would NOT recommend

Got it yesterday and set it up. So far screen seems fine. I hooked FFVII Remake up to my 4K TV and it was excellent on there. I like that the GPU is not active when doing normal browsing stuff.
I had gone to a Best Buy to lift the m18 and it was just too heavy for my taste. This m16 was just right. The power brick is a monster though.
One thing you might want to get with the points are thermal pads for the other two SSD slots, as the laptop does not include thermal pads for the empty slots.
